IMDS简单介绍：

IMDS英文全称为：International Material Data System,是一个第三方进行材料成分认可的机构。IMDS 是汽车产业中关于零件和材料的数据库系统. 它是由汽车制造公司奥迪, 宝马, 戴姆勒-克莱斯勒, 福特, 欧宝, 保时捷, 大众以及瑞典的沃尔沃汽车集团联合开发的. 期间又有其他汽车制造商加入了该联盟, 并且和其他有意加入IMDS的企业正在磋商中.

IMDS 保存并维护所有在汽车制造过程中所用的相关材料信息. 只有这样才能履行经由国家及国际标准，法律和规章赋予给汽车制造商及其供应商的各项义务.

优点

使用IMDS向客户提供资料优点：

1. 汽车行业的整车企业和零部件企业，包括一级供应商，二级供应商等都可以使用。 2. 供应商只需使用IMDS一个系统便可向多个厂商提供零件资料 3.只使用一个中心系统可使供应商减低成本

4.其本身的数据库可以接收IMDS的资料结构,以便改善其功能
