语言的功能是传递信息，而传递信息基本上都是以句子的形式表现出来，在英语中，通常用两种形式（即从用途和结构）来划分英语句子。首先，英语句子按“用途”来分为“陈述句、疑问句、祈使句和感叹句”四种类型; 另外，按“结构”可分为“简单句、并列句和复合句”这三种类型。认识掌握了这些句子类型，就可以把成千上万的英语句子简单化。并列句，复合句都包含了简单句。我们都知道，简单句有常用的五种基本句型，我认为对于简单句的五种基本句型，关键要掌握“谓语动词”的使用: 谓语动词有时态、语态、人称、数和语气的变化等。下面我就在探究这五种简单句的同时，也让同学们了解谓语动词是否“及物”的问题。所谓“及物”就是动词可以带有人或物。在平时的教学过程中，我把谓语动词分为五种: 完全不及物动词、不及物动词、单及物动词、双及物动词和不完全及物动词。
