如何把握现有时间进行有效地复习，是摆在每个全国职称外语考试应考者面前的问题。尤其是那些年龄偏大的同志既有工作和生活的重担，又有记忆力减退的困难，因此采取适合自己的方式进行复习尤为重要。目前的统一考试，仅考察应试者的阅读能力，并不涉及听说写译。为了有效通过，我们应该把主要精力放在认识上，只要看懂，这样目标明确思想就能够放松，掌握起来也更容易。

职称英语考试分六个部分：1.词汇；2.阅读判断；3.概括大意和完成句子；4.阅读理解；5.补全短文；

6.完形填空。对于词汇这一部分，《大纲》和《职称指定用书》中涉及的基本词汇、固定搭配和专业词汇，各个专业总数均在1万个左右，要掌握所有词汇在几个月内很难完成，复习时要找规律、找窍门。比如 courage为勇气、胆量的意思，记住了后可派生出多个单词，如加前缀dis为discourage（泄气、丧气），又如加en为encourage （使……鼓起勇气），这样按“家族”形式背能节省时间。在背单词的时候不要单纯地背，联系词汇按照一句话的意思和连带关系一起背，这样做一举三得，同时可提高阅读能力。
