汉英翻译技巧（一）

——增词翻译法

在翻译过程中为了更忠实、通顺地表达原文的思想内容，常用的翻译手段之一就是对原句进行词的增补，即增词法。换言之，就是在原文的基础上添加必要的单词、词组、分句或完整句，使得译文与原文载内容和形式等方面对等起来。这当然不是无中生有地随意增词，而是增加原文中虽无其词而有其意的一些词。增词法在大的方面有两种情况：一种是把原文句子里隐含的货上下意思清楚而没有写出来的词在译文里补进去，这样的增词是出于语义上的需要；另一种增词则是出于句法上的考虑，把原文中省略的句子成分补充进去，使译文的句子有完整的意思。

一、 增添必要的代词

汉语重意合，是话题凸显的语言；英语重形合，是主语凸显的语言。汉语句子可以没有主语，也可以省略谓语动词。因此汉语中的无主句比比皆是，而英语则不同，英语句子严格遵循主谓结构，主语+谓语的结构形式稳定。因此，在汉译英时，常常需要根据上下文的意思增添适当的代词来译出主语。

1. 不入虎穴，焉得虎子。

2. 学会数理化，走遍天下都不怕。

3. 那些穷苦工人挣到的钱几乎不够养家糊口。

二、 增添必要的名词

汉语重的无主句相当多，英语中的主语是句子的形式要件不能缺失。因此在

汉英句子翻译

Structural difference

汉语隐形，即连接词很少出现或不出现，这体现为意合(parataxis); 英语显性，即连接词出现，体现为形合(hypotaxis)

汉语：动词多，短句多，常按时间顺序或前因后果的逻辑关系排列，呈链状；

英语：常按句内主次从属关系排列，在句子主体上添加修饰语以及限定语，形成严谨的树状结构。

1. 正确判断句子之间的关系，补充连接手段，实现显性连接。

2. 掌握内在联系正确断句

语篇意识

语篇意识是指把整个语篇视为一个整体，注重其内在连贯性(coherence)，也就是注重文章思路和逻辑，注意上下文联系。连贯性是通过Cohesion来实现的，就是把上下文联系起来的那些词汇和语法手段，如连词、代词、指示词以及起连接作用的短语和句式等。

如果缺乏整体观，翻译中只会盯住一个个孤立的句子
