摘要 培养学习者的跨文化交际能力是21世纪中国高校英语教师义不容辞的责任，然而他们自身的跨文化交际能力却不容乐观。为解决这一问题，本文分析了高校英语教师跨文化交际能力不足的原因，并对如何提高高校英语教师跨文化交际能力提出了一些合理化建议。

一 中国高校英语教师跨文化交际能力的现状

“跨文化交际”指本族语者与非本族语者之间的交际，也指任何在语言和文化背景方面有差异的人们之间的交际。进入21世纪，随着世界经济、政治、文化等方面全球化趋势的迅速发展，越来越多的人参与到跨文化交际的队伍中来。然而，不同的国家、民族由于不同的历史渊源和社会习俗，形成了特定的文化背景，进而产生了不同的价值观念、社会规范、思维方式以及语用规则等，这些因素给拥有不同文化背景的人们之间的相互理解与和睦相处带来了重重阻力与困难，甚至是危险。因此，培养和提高学习者的跨文化交际能力成为21世纪中国高校外语教学的根本目标之一。 高校外语教学根本目标的重大变革给中国高校英语教师带来了前所未有的挑战，他们从此担负着培养优秀的跨文化交际者的历史重任。研究表明，他们

如何提高社会交际能力?

有些青年学生经常为自己不善言谈和交际、性格内向而苦恼。有的是多年养成的性格。那么能改变这种性格，培养起善于于交际的能力吗？俗话说：“江山易改，秉性难移。”这话其实并不完全对。“难移”，并不等于不能移。人是发展变化的，随着社会的改革开放、个人交际的频繁和社会实践的增加、知识面的拓宽，个人的观念、意识以及性格都会有大的变化。只要你有意识地注意改变自己的性格，则会收到好的效果。另外，要确立信心，摆正位子，寻找自我，正确估价自己，不可盛气凌人，也不可妄自菲薄，不可没有自尊心，也不能被自卑感压倒。应该谦虚谨慎、不卑不亢地生活在人们中间。改变内向性格、学会交际的办法还要扩大自身的信息量，多读书，多看报，关心世界大事、国家大事，扩大事识面开拓视野，注重丰富自己的业余生活，如打球、书法、下棋等，都可以在这些活动中增加交往，潜移默化的改变自己的性格。

在性格塑造方面，可以作以下努力：首先，要使自己让人喜爱，并希望成为其他人的好朋友。（１）遇上烦恼时不妨假设正处在快乐逍遥的状态，久而久之，自然可养成乐天的性格。（２）尽量利用空闲时间作自己喜爱作的事，参加不同的活动，这样可以扩大交际圈子，增长见识。（３）将日常感受、愿望和梦想写在一本“秘密日记

第一章 文化与交际

一 、文化

“文化”是跨文化交际学中的核心因素之一，有必要界定它的概念。文化的定义是中外学者们争论不休而又见仁见智的问题。“横看成岭侧成峰，远近高低各不同”。 从1871年文化人类学的创始人英国学者泰勒（E.B.Tylor）提出文化的定义以来，学者们从不同的学科角度出发给文化下定义，至今有150多种之多。尽管这是个令人头疼的问题，但是作为本学科的基础研究对象之一，我们又必须面对它。

（一）文化的概念

1、文化一词的来源。在我国古籍中，“文”既指文字、文章、文采，又指礼乐制度、法律条文等；“化”是“教化”的意思。汉代刘向在《说苑》中说：“凡武之兴，为不服也，文化不改，然后加诛”。“文化”与“武功”相对，含教化的意思。在西方，“文化”一次来源于拉丁文cultura，在英文中为culture，原义是指农耕以及对植物的培育，从15世纪以来，逐渐引申为对人的品德和能力的培养。在近代，日本人把英文的culture翻译成文化，我们又借用了日本人的译法。（经济，编辑，逻辑，主义等等）文化一词的中西两个来源，殊途
