总的来说，今年试题体现了“着眼于新的《课程标准》的思想，如除掌握全国考试大纲2000左右词汇，还另增加231个新词汇，在题量、词汇和阅读策略等方面向《新课程标准》靠拢，进行平稳过渡，贯彻了“以考查学生素质及英语语言技能”的高考命题指导思想，在考查学生基础知识的同时，主要偏重对学生语言运用的理解能力的考查。与去年相比试卷总难度变化不大，体现了广东省考试中心提出的稳中求进，稳中求改的精神，除了第一大题听力5小题改为信息填词外，各题型保持不变，除单选与完形填空与去年持平以外，其它各题都比去年容易，总体难度与去年持平，试卷以中等题为主，符合考纲明确规定的试卷包括容易题、中等题和难题，其中以中档题为主的原则，往年高考从没提过。这一表述明确告知了考生不要一味钻难题
