《全日制义务教育语文课程标准》对识字教学提出了“会认”和“会学”两种不同要求。在人教版低年级教材中，大量的生字出现在不同单元的课文之中。在一节课有限的40分钟时间里，要让学生认读、识记、理解、书写生字，并初步感知课文内容，如果仅仅是简单重复，机械记忆，学生自主学习的积极性很难被有效地调到，学习效果也会收到影响。

《语文课程标准》指出：“能够在一定的语言环境中识字，即达到了识字教学的要求，这里所说的语言环境，包括含有生字的词语、句子、段落或短文。”所谓“语境识字”就是尽可能多地为学生创设语境条件，更好地激发学生的识字兴趣，提高学生自主识字的积极性，帮助学生轻轻松松识字，快快乐乐写字。在《日月潭》一课的识字教学中，就力图体现对语境的创设和运用。
