《尚书·尧典》有命羲仲“宅嵎夷，曰暘谷”之文，“嵎夷”、“暘谷”在何处，史上有海州说；辽西说；朝鲜说；辽东说；日本说；登州说等多种观点。本文利用史书、舆地、方志等多种文献，并借助于近年的考古发掘资料，对有关诸说进行了深入的考辨、甄别，得出的结论是：登州说比较接近事实，其他诸说皆有重大缺陷。 【关键词】

《尚书·尧典》载：“分命羲仲，宅嵎夷，曰暘谷。寅宾出日，平秩东作。”“嵎夷”、“暘谷”在何处？虽经千年论不休。概括历史上关于“嵎夷”、“暘谷”的各种论说，得以下数种：海州说；辽西说；朝鲜说；辽东说；日本说；登州说。笔者近来对各说做了一番考证、甄别，认为唯有登州说接近事实；其他诸说皆有重大缺陷，难以成立。试述之，以求业内贤达指教。

一、嵎夷位置诸说的辨析

海州（连云港）说

据现有资料，最早提出嵎夷、暘谷在海州观点的是清道光年间的王昙（1760～1817），许乔林编《海州文献录》，记载了王昙的看法：“吾尝航海，自碣石、登、莱，穷沙门数十岛，登成山、芝罘，憩息琅琊，尊海而南，求所谓嵎夷暘谷者，不可得。案迁史《始皇本记》谓‘立石朐界，为秦东门’云。朐界者，今
