雷峰塔地宫的发掘，弥补了五代十国时期佛塔地宫考古的空白，对研究唐宋时期地宫及舍利埋葬制度、南北方地宫形态结构的差异等问题有重要价值。2000年12月－2001年7月，重点对雷峰塔地宫及塔基、外围遗迹进行了考古勘探与发掘。

简介

吴越国五代时有“东南佛国”之称，是同时期我国境内佛教遗迹分布最为集中的地区。雷峰塔是吴越国王崇佛的集中体现，最有特色的是雷峰塔的藏经，与众不同，可分三种：一种是用白棉纸木版精印的佛经，系密宗经典，全称为《一切如来心秘密全身舍利宝箧印陀罗尼经》，放入特制的有孔藏经砖中，雷峰塔倒塌时发现较多，孔开在砖的一端，直径2．5厘米，深10．5厘米，这种藏经方式 ，是国内迄今发现独一无二的。

1924年9月25日坍圯，发现砖孔内有北宋开宝八年（975年）吴越国王钱弘俶施印的《一切如来心秘密全身舍利宝箧印陀罗尼经》经卷，经卷用川棉纸或竹纸精印，是研究早期雕版印刷的珍贵资料。2000年至2001年，为配合雷峰塔重建工程，对倒塌废墟进行了清理，并发掘了地宫，出土了铁舍利函（内有金涂塔一座）、释迦牟尼鎏金铜佛像、铜镜、铜钱及玉人、玉钱等一批重要文物。

当他们走到雷峰塔脚下时，已是下午一两点钟了，太阳已不在偏东方，而在稍微偏西的地方。

啊，终于走到雷峰塔下了，可真是把我累坏了！”爸爸擦着脸上的汗说。

是啊，好不容易来到雷峰塔，一定要上塔里看看！”妈妈跃跃欲试。

雷峰塔有七层：地下两层，上面五层。从地下二层到地上五层一共71米，露出地面的塔身约45米。

走进雷峰塔，我发现一个看风景的好地方塔的最高层。在那儿看西湖，真是美不胜收：被下午的日光映得发红的湖面上，几个码头处停满了各式各样船；一座塔倒映在湖面上，在映着红光满面的湖面上庄严地荡漾；人群悠闲在走在湖边，走在湖中

雷峰塔一名皇妃塔，又称西关砖塔。在西湖南岸夕照山的雷峰上，南屏山日慧峰下净慈寺前。雷峰塔为吴越国王钱俶因黄妃得子建，初名“黄妃塔”因地建雷峰，后人改称“雷峰塔”。旧塔已于1924年倒塌，现已重建。雷峰夕照为西湖十景之一。新建的雷峰塔为中国铜领域第一人朱炳仁担纲铜总工艺师，使这座塔成为中国首座彩色铜雕宝塔。 相关典故

人”之誉，西湖上亦呈现出“一湖映双塔，南北相对峙”的美景。每当夕阳西下，塔影横空，别有一番景色，故被称为“雷峰夕照”。至明朝嘉靖年间，塔外部楼廊被倭寇烧毁。塔基砖被迷信者盗窃，致使塔于1924年9月25日倾圮。清朝许承祖曾作诗云：“黄妃古塔势穹窿，苍翠藤萝兀倚空。奇景那知缘劫火，弧峰斜映夕阳红。”雷峰塔倒塌之后，不仅作为西湖十景之一的“雷峰夕照”成了空名，而且“南山之景全虚”，连山名也换成了夕照山。

名称由来

雷峰塔之名，则是因为塔建于西湖南岸夕照山的雷峰之上，民间以地名指称，都叫开了雷峰塔，反而少有知道黄妃塔的。雷峰是夕照山的中峰，北宋诗人林和靖有《中峰诗》云：“中峰一径分，盘折上幽云，夕照前村见，秋涛隔岭闻”，可见当时已是悠游赏
