Students enjoy being entertained and amused. However, a balance has to be struck between entertainment and teaching. Sometimes, the former can overwhelm the latter.

4,A good teacher who has lots of knowledge, not only of his subject. The preoccupation with the teacher’s personality is reflected here too: teachers should not be afraid to bring their own interests and lives into the classroom.

Although, as we can see, the character and personality of the teacher is a crucial issue in the classroom, by far the greatest number of responses to the question ‘What makes a good teacher?’ were not so much about teachers themselves, but rather about the relationship between the teacher and the students. This is borne out in the following responses. 1, A good teacher is somebody who has an affinity with the students that they’re teaching.

Successful teachers are those people who can identity with the hopes, aspirations and difficulties of their students while they are teaching them.

2,A good teacher should try and draw out the quiet ones control the more talkative ones.

Experienced teachers can tell you of classes which are dominated by bright, witty, loud, extrovert students. As this EFL teacher implies, it’s easy to be captivated by such students. It takes more effort to ensure that the quiet, shyer students also get a chance. One of the secondary students I questioned said, ‘A good teacher is someone who asks the people who don’t always put their hands up.’

The people who resent bad behaviour most are not teachers, but other students who feel their time is being wasted. Learning how to manage students and how to control boisterous classes is one of the fundamental skills of teaching.

Class management- the ability to control and inspire a class is one of the fundamental skills of teaching. Teachers find it much easier if their students bellieve that they are genuinely interested in them and available for them.

The most obvious common feature of the different teacher’s accounts was that in response to our question about their teaching they almost always talked about what their pupils were doing.

A simple answer to the question “ what makes a good teacher” therefore, is that good teacher care more about their student’s learning than they do about their own teaching.

It is a great honor to be chosen to speak here. I value this chance

of sharing teaching experience with distinguished teachers very much.I can still remember when I made my first speech in college.

My heart would have jumped out of my chest if I hadn’t tried my

best to control my breath.

Well today, being a teacher of English, I have a strong sense of

responsibility, which always fills me with strength and confidence.

I have a question to ask. Do you still remember your teachers? I

think all of you say yes. So do I, because a great part of who

today, my personality as well as my job is thanks to them. Believe it

or not, our teachers can have a big influence on our personality.

Nowadays, more and more people intend to be a teacher as they

think teacher, whose job is grounded. And no matter how the job

situation changes, a teacher needn’t worry about his daily life as some

people say, an “iron bow”. Yes, of course, being a teacher has these

benefits, but when you really stand on the stage, you will find it hard

to be a good teacher.

Sometimes ,I often suppose that if I am not a teacher ,maybe I will

be much easier. But it is only a supposition. I must learn to face the

circumstances of a techer from the day I choose the profession on.

How to be a good English teacher?I think the key would be; don't

teach, let the student learn by himself. You must make sure to keep the

student interested in, maybe by pointing to some books or movies he/

she likes. The student learns by himself by working, that is for sure.

There are no shortcuts. The teacher can provide some hints though. For

example, when I was learning to read english many years ago. I kept

reading the book even when there were words I did not know. I would

only look up the dictionary if the word was of crucial importance to the

paragraph, or if it was popping up so frequently, I had to satisfy my

lust for knowledge.

Now, Dear friends, I would like you to think about our own task.

What makes a good English teacher?Just years of little sleep,ove

-work? Just like the candle that burns out to help others? No! We

should develop ourselves, both professionally and personally. Most

importantly, we should love our students. In my heart, my students are

the most powerful striving for me to work harder. I love my students! I

love teaching!

Before finishing my speech, I would like to say: to be an English

teacher is the best choice in my life. I shall do all I can to be a good

English teacher!
