Should live animals be used in scientific research?

As yet, human beings have created a splendid civilization. And the development of science contributes a lot to the development of civilization. However, the progress of science requires doing some experiments on live creatures, which causes a wide range of dispute. Recently, a heated discussion that should live animals be used in scientific research is going on.

Some people are keenly against it, considering it is very cruel and unnecessary. Usually, those cute mice, rabbits, cats and dogs die in scientific research. Sometimes, man even uses primates in experiments, which they think is unacceptable. In their view, animals are equal with human beings on the status of creature. Therefore, man has no right to use live animals in scientific research. In a word, human beings can’t develop science at the cost of abusing live animals.

Nevertheless, others support using live animals in scientific research, for they believe that it is justified in the interest of the human beings. To their perspective, scientists have got to use live animals in some specific fields, such as medical science. In order to deal with some serious problems, which threat human beings’ lives, for instance the widely spreading disease of AIDS, man must do it continually. Thus, using animals in science

research is necessary and worthwhile.

Personally, man sometimes has no other choices but to do experiments with live animals, so as to make good progress and live better. Obviously, it is necessary to use live animals in scientific research, but man must do it with limitation and in appropriate ways. Besides, the government should publish some statutes to avoid animal abuse. And scientists are supposed to find new and efficient ways to do experiments. Only when we take proper measures, can this access of developing science function better while it being accepted by more people.
