2012年11月六级写作讲座范文

A Fever for Civil Servants

1. 很多大学生热衷于考公务员 2. 分析其原因

3. 我对此现象的看法

The last decade has seen a remarkable growth in the number of college students who enter for the qualification test for civil servants. Statistics show the growing number is strikingly high with over double every year. This essay is to discuss why students strive to join the ranks of civil servants and offer my view on this fever. The factors for this fever are complex. First, the post for a civil servant is comparatively securer than working in a company. A government employee may stay in the job for life, free of the fear of being laid off, and enjoy a carefree retired life. Besides, the pay and benefits are very satisfactory. This is vital in a society where bucks are still closely associated with a better life. Most important of all, it offers appealing prospects of personal advancement and promotion. It is a healthy trend for young graduates to take civil servant jobs. Anyway, everyone has his own ideal and ambition. However, as far as I’m concerned, I will choose to work with a business or corporation, for I feel my personality renders me more qualified for a non-government organization. I can’t stand inefficiency, and I welcome challenge and variety.

Help Indoorsmen and Indoorswomen out of their Houses

1. 当今年轻人中有不少宅男宅女 2. 产生这种现象的主要原因

3. 如何帮助这些年轻人走出他们的住宅

No one will fail to notice the fact that nowadays there are quite a few indoorsmen and indoorswomen among young people especially in big cities. A characteristic of such people is that they spend plenty of time at home with few social connections. What are some of the factors involved and the help we can offer to get those people out of their houses?

The emergence of indoorsmen and women in our society can be accounted for by a couple of factors, both individual and social. For one thing, some of them are quite introverted and prefer to isolate themselves by staying at home rather than participate in social communication. For another, only-child policy made by our society renders them accustomed to being alone. All these lead to the production of many indoorsmen and women in the present society.

Reversing this trend needs time and dedication. One way we should take into account is that school should educate those young people to be aware of the importance of social connection. Another way to be considered is that family should create opportunities for the kids to be involved in social activities. The best way to solve this problem relies on the young people themselves since it is not others’ hope but their mentality that counts. Only in this way can we really help those young people get out of their house.

On Students’ Interpersonal Relationship

1. 目前许多大学生处理不好人际关系 2. 出现这种现象的原因

1

3. 学生该如何处理不好人际关系

Nowadays many educators have expressed their concern about the quality of interpersonal relationship among college students, especially for those who are fresh out of high schools. According to a recent survey conducted by a University, many college-age students regard interpersonal relationship as the biggest headache. What are some of the factors involved and measures to be taken to deal with this problem?

The reasons behind this problem can be personal and social. For one thing, increasing diversity and rapid changes in our society make interacting with others continually more complex and difficult. For another, with limited life experiences and social skills, college students face more challenges in dealing with interpersonal relationship. This is especially true for students coming from rural areas. Due to lack of social skills, they are often rejected by others — and the rejection gives them even fewer chances to learn how to behave with others.

In my opinion, positive interpersonal relationships are vital for optimal human growth and development. Therefore, colleges should offer comprehensive interpersonal relationships course to educate those young people to know how to get along with others. The students themselves should be aware of the importance of positive interpersonal relationships by participating in group activities since an interpersonal relationship can only be improved by communication in the daily life.

Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled Never Give Up by commenting on Albert Einstein’s common saying, “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.

The common saying, “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving”, unveils the significance of perseverance. One should never give up since the greatest glory consists not in never falling but in rising every time we fall. This is true not only in our career but also in other aspects of life.

A typical example is Abraham Lincoln. Born in an ordinary family with no prestigious family background, Lincoln met with many setbacks and defeats throughout his life. He lost eight elections, failed twice in business and suffered a nervous breakdown. He could have quit many times - but he didn't and due to his persistence, he became one of the greatest presidents in the history of his country and won the popularity worldwide. If he stopped trying, few people would know who Lincoln was.

In short, it is vital not to give up when working for our goals. Whether we succeed in the end or not, we will learn something, and what we learn will help us to become better and more qualified persons. Therefore, never give in, never say die or never stop trying and the success will be just round the corner.

Online Learning Vs Classroom Learning

1. 当今学习资源丰富多彩 2. 一些学生喜欢网络学习另一些喜欢课堂学习 3. 我的看法

It is true nowadays college students can have access to a variety of learning resources. For example, they can gain knowledge on the internet and they can also learn from their teachers in the classrooms. This essay is to discuss both sides of the opinion and offer my view on this issue.

Some students like to obtain knowledge from the Internet for it is quite convenient by the easy access to various websites regardless of the limitation of time and place. Besides, the contents are abundant. There are thousands of learning resources and naturally they can easily find what they are interested in. Others, however, prefer to learn in the class because learning is a process of interaction. Through discussion, students can not only share good ideas with each other but also have a good understanding of what they are learning. Moreover,

face-to-face teaching stimulates learning motivation and students themselves can get direct guide from their teachers if they encounter difficulties.

Personally, how much students can learn, to some extent, depends on the environment in which they learn. In some key universities or schools, teachers are usually outstanding leaders in their subjects, and the campus is well equipped with various facilities to help learn. In this case, it is often true that students in general are able to learn more from teachers. Certainly, not all teachers are qualified. In some schools, educational facilities are poor and teachers are less well educated. In this case, it is possible for students to learn more from the Internet. Therefore, my choice is based on the situation where teaching is performed.

Directions: For this part, you are allowed thirty minutes to write an essay entitled “Do Clothes Make a Man?” by commenting on this issue with specific reasons and examples. You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200.

There is an old saying, “Clothes make a man”, which reflects a traditional psychological aspect in people’s mind that “packaging” plays a vital role in giving favorable impression, especially in times of first meeting. Consequently, more and more people now attach greater importance to “packaging”. Fashion does mean a lot not only to many young people but also to their parents who often encourage their kids to be well packaged. Today, one will never fail to notice many fashionable boys and girls on campus.

Personally, it is true that fashion makes people look more beautiful and life more colorful. Yet as a coin has two sides, so does the matter of fashion. It is human nature to pursue beauty, but it should be limited to a reasonable scope. If a vast sum of money is wasted and precious time is spent in following fashion, who will have sufficient energy and effort to work and study? On the other hand, fashion does not mean everything. A person’s quality, such as intelligence, devotion, and diligence counts more than his appearance.

Therefore, while we pay attention to our appearance, we should always bear in mind that one’s quality or inside beauty has its priority. So in a sense clothes do matter in our daily life but they do not make a perfect man.

Directions: For this part, you are allowed thirty minutes to write an essay entitled “Is Charity an Undertaking for All?” by commenting on this issue with specific reasons or examples. You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200.

The question “Is charity an undertaking for all?” (The issue of whether charity is an undertaking for all) has provoked a wide concern among the public over recent years. In spite of what the opponents claim, as a proponent, my answer to this question is positive. This stance can be justified by the nature of charity itself.

Charity is not the word just for the super rich such as Bill Gates and Warren Buffett who donated billions of dollars to charity. In fact, anyone can contribute to it as well. A person named Alen donated thousands of dollars in his entire life even though he was just a porter. Every day Alen helped porting trolleys in the supermarket to make a living. Fifty cents could be earned for each trolley but each time he donated five cents to the poorer.

As a matter of fact, the nature of charity is not quantity but care and love. The fact that we give our hand to those who need help is a sort of charity. In other words, charity is not a money issue but the behavior of conscience and the embodiment of good virtue. Therefore, charity is an undertaking for all.

My View on Multi-media Teaching

1. 多媒体教学当今相当普及

2. 多媒体教学的优点和存在的不足 3. 我对多媒体教学的看法

3

Multi-media teaching is no longer something new to us. To some extent, it has become part of modern education in many schools of our country. However, as is the case with many issues (as a sword has double blades), multi-media teaching has both (merits and demerits) positive and negative aspects.

One advantage of multi-media teaching is that with the combination of word, pictures, animation, sound, video and etc. it creates positive atmosphere in the classroom, thus motivating the learners. Another underlying advantage is that multi- media teaching with its rich contents and colorful screen makes learning both instructive and enjoyable.

On the other hand, the disadvantages of multi-media teaching are also obvious. First, it reduces the frequency of classroom interaction between teachers and learners, which may have a bad effect on improving teaching efficiency. Besides, it takes a considerable amount of time to produce the teaching courseware on the part of teachers, thus drastically multiplying teachers’ working load.

Therefore, in the rush to make wide use of multi-media facilities in the classroom, we must be careful not to lose our humanity. Although the benefits of multi-media teaching are extremely tempting, we need to analyze whether it is actually improving our teaching quality, or making our teaching easier but more soulless.

Changes of the Ownership of Houses

Direction: Write a composition entitled “Changes of the Ownership of Houses” based on the following chart and outlines given in Chinese with no less than 150 words.

1. 根据图表描述该市住房产权的变化 8070

602. 分析产生这些变化的原因

50 state-owned40private3. 说明这些变化对个人和社会产生的影响 3020

10

0199019952000

The period 1990--2010 saw the rise and fall in the ownership of houses in a big city. As can be seen from the graph, the percentage of state-owned houses in this city dropped considerably from 75% in 1990 to 20% in 2010 while the corresponding figures for private houses rose dramatically, from 25% to 80% over the same period.

This fluctuation can be accounted for by a couple of factors. First, the boom of the urban economy has resulted in the increase of family income and the improvement of family economic conditions has led to the changes of people’s minds. Today, the concept of “buy now and pay late” has been widely accepted, which has remarkably promoted the purchase of private houses. Besides, government has implemented a series of new policies which provide residents with subsidies and loans to encourage their real estate investment. These policies make it easier for residents to buy their own houses.

The change in the ownership of houses has a significant impact on both society and individuals. For one thing, they get the country to buy and in return give impetus to the further development of our economy. For another, residents will improve their living conditions and enjoy a better life. In a word, they are the evidence of both rising living standard and better economy.

On Chinese Style of Education

Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled On Chinese Style of Education. Your essay should start with a brief description of the picture. You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200.

Different styles in education often shape students of divert sorts. (Chinese style of education has provoked a wide concern among the public over recent years) As is vividly illustrated in the picture, a Chinese student is stronger on his left brain than on the right one. The former is believed to

be exam-oriented capacity while the latter is concerned with creativity. What is conveyed by the drawing is both realistic and thought-provoking.

Due to long-term passive education, quite a few Chinese students lack creativity. From early education to college study, what students are taught is how to get good marks in exams since good scores are the only criteria for students to enter good schools or universities. Besides, a characteristic of Chinese education is that obeying teachers’ instructions is encouraged and rewarded while cherishing one’s own different ideas is thought to be naive and depressed. All these lead to the production of students who are strong in exams but weak in creative thinking.

Reversing this trend needs time and dedication. Schools should build a better environment for students to develop their creative mind. Young people themselves should adjust their minds and follow the examples of those people in history or around us who achieve their success under the stimulation of innovative spirit. In a word, joint efforts should be made to reform Chinese style of education.

Dear General Manager,

I am the chairman of Students’ Union in Shanghai University. I was wondering if you could possibly sponsor our Art Festival, which will be held/take place between June 19th and 20th.

The Art Festival has been around for five years and this is the sixth, in which many students with art accomplishments will show their talents in singing, dancing, drama, music, painting and so forth. The highlight will be a fashion show, in which student models will dress the clothes designed and made by themselves.

Unfortunately, we have a limited budget. Since we have invited some distinguished artists to visit our school, we find our current budget cannot cover all the expenses and costs. So we do hope some businesses will give their helping hand to finance the Festival. I understand your business often finances some civic-minded activities. I would appreciate it very much if you would sponsor our Festival.

Looking forward to your prompt reply.

Yours sincerely Li Ming
