Nowadays, there is too much waste on campuses. You often see students leaving their dorm, forgetting to turn off the light. You also find that many a student, after washing their clothes, doesn’t bother to turn off the tap, leaving the water running. If you go to the cafeteria at dinner time, you are likely to see tables covered with the remains of all kinds of food.

Waste is very harmful. If you are carefree with your money, you will soon be very poor. Likewise, if man recklessly exploits the natural resources, then he is sure to have a dismal future. What’s more, being wasteful is a bad habit which, like a drug, gradually erodes a human being’s virtues. Once a person grows wasteful, the virtue that is frugality is eroded within him.

Perhaps it is time we remembered the old saying “waste not, want not. (不浪费,不愁缺。)” And fighting against waste is everybody’s business! Cheating on tests is very harmful. If you complete your high education, depending on cheating, you will soon find you are not

qualified as an employee for your future work. Likewise, if a college or university often sends such kind of students to society, then it is sure to have a dismal future. What’s more, cheating is a bad habit which, like a drug, gradually erodes a human being’s virtues. Once a person fails to resist the temptation of cheating, the virtue that is honesty is eroded within him.

Perhaps it is time we remembered the old saying “Honesty is the best policy.” And fighting against cheating is everybody’s business! As for us college students, we should strive to stop cheating on

campus, me included; I’ll start with myself. With everyone doing his bit, it won’t be long before “the good old days” come back.
