Part III Reading Comprehension (40 minutes)

Directions: This part is to test your reading ability. There are 5 tasks for you to fulfill. You should read the reading

materials carefully and do the tasks as you are instructed. Task 1

The Student Health Service in this Irish (爱尔兰的) university is available to all registered students throughout the year. The service is open from 10.30 am to 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm to 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday. For consultations, students are encouraged to make appointments as early as possible. I’m a full-time white collar worker. I should say my working conditions are really good. The working hours are very reasonable. I work 38 hours a week from Monday to Friday. I get a four-week holiday with pay. I always go on a two-week vacation in the summer and I usually take another week to travel abroad in the winter. That still leaves a few days if I want to take time off for something else. We’re even allowed to take unpaid leave if it’s really necessary. Our company introduces the flexible working time system last year. So I can start anytime between 8 and 9 in the morning. And sometimes I can leave as early as 4 o’clock in the afternoon.
