Unit 3 I’m more outgoing than my sister. Section A (1a-2b) The part is from unit 3 of grade eight of Go For it. The topic of this unit is about comparing the personal traits. This unit is aimed at the comparative degrees of adjectives and adverbs. It’s close to our daily life. The class is the first period of this unit, it is important to introduce the concept of comparative concept of adjective and usage for later learning. All the activities are helpful to raise Ss’ learning interests. And these activities can give Ss listening, speaking and writing practice. At the same time, I’d like the Ss to set up a consciousness of “judging themselves and others correctly” through my teaching. It’s the basic for the students to learn the other contents of this unit, as well as unit 4. So it’s very important to learn this lesson well. Analysis of the teaching material The students have learnt some words of personal traits in unit7 of Grade 7 and they know how to describe people’s look. As we know, Analysis of learners the students were interested in the topic about appearance, but they don’t have a real situation to talk about personality. Therefore, they need a real situation to communicate with each other. 1.Knowledge objective: ①To enable the students to listen, speak, read and write new words and expressions: outgoing, hard-working, serious, loudly, quietly… ②To enable students to compare people by using: Teaching objectives sb. is +adj.(i)er + than sb. sb. is +more + adj. +than sb. 2.Ability objective: Students can use the new words and the structure of the comparatives with “-(i)er and more”to talk about personal traits and compare people. 3. Moral objectives: Learn to judge themselves and others correctly. 1
