The age of 17 is filled up with colorful dreams. As a girl of 17, I surely have a variety of dreams. Of all the dreams, the one of becoming a journalist is always with me.

I’m always considered open-minded and adventurous, so I will be certainly capable of this challenging career which at the same time can provide me with totally different experiences. I will get plenty of chances to travel around the world, seeing and reporting what is happening there. I may visit lots of western people to see the life there with my own eyes. I also strongly wish to have a detailed picture of some interesting customs in Africa.

Only hard work can guarantee my dream is not just a dream. And thus, in order to achieve it, I’m determined to spare no efforts to study hard so that I can be admitted into an excellent university and major in journalism. What’s more, I will keep a close eye on the current news, which helps cultivate certain qualities a good journalist should have. All in all, I am trying my best to realize my dream.

Nowadays, the education of the youth to be grateful is taken more and more seriously not only at school, but also in the whole society. Then

what is the importance of learning to be grateful?

Firstly, learning to be grateful makes one see the bright side of life that turns him into a positive person, and can also perfect his personalities, which plays an important role in his future development. Secondly, learning to be grateful can make one become a responsible citizen in the society. If one’s heart is full of gratefulness, he can offer as much as he can to others, and make a great contribution to the society. Still more importantly, no individual can live completely independently of others. Being grateful, a person will not do things at the cost of the interest of others.

In brief, if everyone is grateful, our society will be more harmonious, and our family will have more happiness, and we will all have a brighter future. So let’s appreciate what we have got, and we will realize what a blessed life we have.

While most of us enjoy pretty appearances, it is more important to cultivate a clean and beautiful soul. Only such souls can create a beautiful society. Chinese people are traditionally in favor of the virtues of modesty, generosity, broadmindedness, and politeness. Confucian teachings such as, “do not do to others as you would not want done to you” and “one should be delighted to accept criticism” are wise and worthwhile. If people embody these teachings, our society can certainly improve and progress.

Self-confidence is of great importance to us. We can achieve nothing without it.

Madam Curie once said, “Life is not easy for any one of us. We must work, and above all we must believe in ourselves.” With self-confidence supporting her, Madam Curie discovered the element radium and made great contributions to the world. And this is true of many other scientists. However, in our daily life there are many people who often complain that they lack the ability to do things well, but as a matter of fact, what they lack most is self-confidence. So anyone, no matter what he does, should have faith in himself. Only by having the right attitude towards one’s own ability and holding up faith in himself can he have the courage to work on and finally succeed.

The car is really a controversial invention. Despite a large group of fans it attracts ever since its birth, it is also regarded by some as the worst invention ever in history.

It is well accepted that cars play an important role in our life. All the qualities they possess——high efficiency, air-conditioned comfort, cool design——fit our world perfectly well. In this respect, we often call our present-day world, “the one on wheels”. However, the great many benefits cannot outshine the car’s inborn weakness. Indeed, cars have already become the largest source of pollution in large cities. As a result, disease related to air pollution is an increasing concern of the people in the cities.

As is obvious enough, cars are a double-edge sword. While they are an irreplaceable part of modern society, the hope to solve the dilemma may lie in those environmental-friendly ones.

Why could the annual charity fair organized by the Students’ Union on June 1 be a success? 20%of the students of Class One, Senior Three, took part in the fashion show, 30% in the performance, 10% in the photographic activity and 40% in holding stalls or as customers. Such a

campaign meets the needs of the harmonious development of the students.

There were two main reasons.

One is the carefully planned preparations. The student leaders worked out a feasible plan and put it into practice step by step. Every student knew of such a campaign and expected it with eagerness.

The other is the psychologically adjusted connection. Though the college entrance examination was drawing near the students managed to smell the flowers, which helped decrease the exceedingly prevailing pressure and raise the efficiency of their studies. Believe it or not, some students did want to celebrate Children’s Day themselves!

Many students look forward to a second charity fair on colorful campus!

Recently, many teenagers are keen on making friends on lines. However, in my opinion, they should be alert when they are doing so.

As we all know, Internet brings people together regardless of one’s age, job, hobby, etc. As a result, we never know who we are chatting with on the Internet. It is often reported that some teenagers are not careful enough so that they release some personal information and they are cheated by some bad guys.

What’s more, making friends on the Internet can never replace a true

friend in reality. If teenagers only make friends on the Internet, they may be separated from the whole society. That will finally develop into a great barrier to their success.

So we should be careful of making friends on line. If we meet with some difficulty in our life, turning to our teachers or parents is a better choice. It is my opinion that students should place their study, health and safety before other things. As for friendship, we can readily find it in our classmates and other people around us.

A phenomenon, nowadays, has aroused our concerns that the number of fake commodities is rising, which does great harm to our harmonious society.

How does it happen? The reasons are chiefly as follows.

Above all, fake commodities are cheap and our market supervision is still not powerful enough. Furthermore, those manufactures catch hold of the consumers’ psychology that they like to buy cheaper commodities than they are really worth, which leads to the situation where more and more fake commodities are turning up. The most important one is that some businessmen can earn more money with lower costs.

It is high time that we should say no to the fake commodities and take steps to ban the substandard firms, not only for the sake of consumers,

but also for the benefit of society.

Recently, many fake commodities, such as fake clothes, alcohol, medicine, and so on, have appeared in the supermarkets and other department stores. How did the fake commodities spring up?

No doubt that the fake commodities do harm no only to people, but also to the whole society. There, however, are some people who choose to buy the fake commodities just because of the low prices. In my opinion, it is such a demand for them that gives rise to the appearance of the fake commodities. Therefore, we are supposed to make known the harm and
