单词记忆对每一个考生来说都是一个令人头疼的问题,有很多人在考研复习初期就对记考研单词产生了畏惧感,这种畏惧感贯穿于考研复习的始终,对考生整个复习过程造成了很大的负面影响。

很多同学总是在报怨单词记不住,记住了也很快就忘掉了。其实考生在单词的复习过程中存在这样那样的问题,这些问题都直接影响着考生单词记忆的效率和效果。只要掌握了正确的方法,克服这些问题,单词的记忆并不是一个难以解决的问题。

首先从总体上来分析一下单词记忆的方法。这还是要从考研大纲中所给出的题型以及各个题型的分值结构开始说起。考研英语试卷由三部分构成,第一部分为use of English,也就是我们常说的完形填空。这一部分对于单词的考查主要有三种考法:第一种给出四个形式不相近意思也不相近的单词,让考生做出选择。这样的题一般不难,考生根据上下文做出选择即可,这方面主要考查考生单词的广度和对文章理解的程度。文章理解了,只要认识这四个单词就可直接做出正确选择;第二种考查经常会给几个形近但意思不尽相同的单词,让考生做出选择。这种题型要比第一种题型的难度大些,因为它不仅要求考生理解上下文,还要求对几个形近词做出区分。例如:respectable, respectful, respective这三个单词极其相像,甚至词根都一样,辨析很困难。我们可以用其词缀对其加以区分,首先来看第一个单词respectable,其词缀为-able,这个后缀在英语中很常用,很多人都知道它是一个形容词的后缀,但是很少有考生知道:这个词缀常加在动词之后构成形容词,且所构成的形容词通常具有这个动词被动的意义,如erase这个词,表示“擦去,抹去”的意思,它的形容词是erasable,该词在字典中的词义为“可消除的,可抹去的”。汉语的释义当中似乎没有表现出被动的意义,但大家仔细想想,如果说某种材料是“可消除的、可抹去的”,那么这些材料一定是“被别人或外界的物体所消除抹去”,材料肯定不会具备自己把自己消除或抹去的功能。了解了这个词缀后,我们再看一下respectable这个单词,那么这个单词比较准确的含意应该为“被别人所尊敬的”,它的汉语释意应该为“可敬的,值得尊敬的”。再看respectful这个单词,-ful也是英语当中的一个后缀,它的外表容易让考生联想到full这个单词,其实这个词缀的含义就是be full of,意为“充满了……”。我们把词根和词缀连在一起,应为“充满了尊敬的”,那么一定不是对自己充满尊敬,尊敬的对象应为别人,所以它的汉语释意为“恭敬的,尊重人的,有礼貌的”。respective大家需单独记忆一下,它表示“分别的,各自的”。这样我们就区分开了这三个形近词。第三种考查方式是给出一些意思相近甚至汉语解释完全相同的单词。这样的考查方式是最难的一种,要求考生深刻地掌握单词的含义。例如:prevention和precaution这两个单词很常见,汉语解释也相差不多,考生很难区分。prevention的汉语解释为“防止”,precaution的汉语释义为“预防”。看到解释后很多同学仍然区分不开,我们来看一下这两个单词的区别。prevention意为“防止”,那么它就含有“让某事不发生的意义”;precaution意为“预防”,我们可以看一下这个单词的词根和词缀,pre-前缀表示“在……之前”,caution表示“小心”,“提前小心”也就是“预防”,提前采取一些措施,使灾难的损失降至最低。从哲学角度我们知道,人力是不能阻止灾难发生的,那么和天灾搭配的时候就不能用prevention,只能用precaution。prevention可以和一些真正可能阻止得了的事物进行搭配,如prevention of crime,如果和自然灾害这种阻止不了的现象进行搭配只能用precaution,如precaution of flood。

在阅读当中对于单词的考查很简单,阅读中所考查的是消极词汇,消极词汇就是看到认识但是不一定会用的单词,比如说我们在表达我们对某事不满意的时候大多数人都会用We are not satisfied with sth.,很少有人会用到这个单词——discontent。但是如果文章中出现这个单词的时候我们会想到这个词的含义。discontent就是一个消极词汇,前面那个not satisfied就是一个积

极词汇,因为我们不仅认识它还会写会用。有人就会想,我的积极词汇的数量不够,是不是考研就考不好了?其实不然,因为考研中分值最大的部分是阅读,阅读三个部分共占整个试卷60%的分值。但这一部分考查的都是考生的消极词汇。因为阅读是要求考生在A、B、C 、D四个选项中选择答案,不要求考生写任何的英文。积极词汇只在写作部分考查。如果你掌握的积极词汇数量不够,也不要担心。写作是练出来的,如果你多看别人的范文,自己多练习,你在最后一定会掌握足够数量的积极词汇来应对考研写作的。这些词你起初可能用不出来,但是你看到优秀的范文当中用到过你可以模仿,在练习当中有意识地使用,这样到最后你就能准确运用很多积极词汇了。

上面我们提到了考研英语试卷各个部分对于单词的考查方式,也知道考研英语考试当中要求的大部分是消极词汇,现在我们来综述一下单词的记忆方法。既然考研主要考消极词汇,所以看到英语单词反映出其释义即可,至于考生是否会读这个单词、是否会准确使用这个单词,阅读部分并不做要求,所以在这里我们建议考生翻开单词书后用手捂住每一页的右侧,只露出英语单词,然后开始看这些单词,看到认识的单词马上划掉。然后每次记单词的时候都是用这种方法,迅速反映那些没被划掉的单词——我们不认识的单词的汉语释义。直到排除这一页的所有不认识的单词为止,也即是划掉这页上所有的单词为止。

第一遍背单词的时候只需记住这个单词的基本含义(也就是每个单词的前两个释义)即可,这样可以减少单词记忆过程中的挫折感,使考生更有信心,以帮助考生更有效率更有效果的完成第一遍的单词记忆。第一遍背过之后,考生对多数单词的意义都不再陌生,这时立即开始第二遍记忆,这时候就会感觉更为轻松。以至在第三遍、第四遍时候就会感到负担越来越轻。这样背的次数越多就越轻松。

还有很多同学埋怨记完就忘的问题。几乎每个人都会遇到这样的问题,遗忘是单词记忆过程中最大的敌人。我们要找到一种合理有效的方法来消灭这个敌人,其实方法很简单,那就是“重复”。很多考生都不注意这一点,以为背过一遍单词就记住了,可是一到阅读的时候就什么都想不起来了。然后就开始怀疑背单词是否真的有用,然后开始报怨“努力全白费了”,最后索性放弃了单词的记忆,这是一种十分错误的做法。其实你的努力没有白费,只是你的努力还不够。单词记忆一遍之后要用反复的回顾来巩固它,这样才能达到最好的效果。建议大家每当开始下一单元的单词记忆之前,先回顾上一单元的单词。每个单元的单词记忆结束之后给自己制定一个周期表进行定期的回顾,比如说第一次回顾可以放在三天以后,第二次回顾可以隔的时间稍长一些——一个星期,第三次可定在半个月后,这样相隔的时间不断加长。大约回顾四、五遍后就能牢固地把单词记住。
