Teaching Aims:
☆In this unit the pupils learn to understand: ( Knowledge Aims )
Can you come to my place this afternoon?
Sorry, I’m going to Diana’s place.
What’s the matter?
So what?
Come on over to Diana’s place.
Don’t be silly. We can play together.
Friendship band, ribbon, scissors, sticky tape, fold in half, make a knot, use sticky tape, fix the knot on the table, keep the colours apart, make a plait, tie a knot.

Section 1: My best friend
Teaching Aims:
1. Learn to say the drills:
He/She likes ( music and sport ).
His/Her name is ( Terry/Linda ).
He/She is my best friend.
2. Learn to sing a song and try to circle what the children like.
3. Listening to information about three girls and finding out their names.
Key and Difficult Points:
a) Try to pronounce the words:
Music, sport, spiders, rats, friend, best…
b) Try to differentiate “he” and “she”, “his” and “her”.

You need: pictures of new words, tape-recorder

I.Warm up
a) Greetings

II. Presentation

New words: music—sport—spiders—rats
c) Listen and say what my best friends like:
She likes music and sport. She likes books and dogs.
She likes spiders. She likes frogs.
Her name is Linda. She is my best friend.
He likes kites and cars. He likes caps and cats.
He likes butterflies and rats.
His name is Terry. He is my best friend.
d) T: Now you know who are my best friends.
Ss: Yes. Linda and Terry.
T: Good. Linda and Terry are my best friends.
They’re my best friends.
IV. Learn to sing the song
a) Listen to the song and make sure the pupils understand it.
b) Do the exercise. The pupils have to put a blue circle around the things that Linda likes and a red circle around the things that Terry likes.
c) Sing the song along with the tape-recorder.
V. Practice: Listen and write the names
Ask the pupils to listen to the tape, then tell them to write the names of the characters under the pictures. ( Sue, Pat, Liz )

a) Show a big photograph of children and introduce:
T: Hello, boys and girls. Here is a photograph of children. Look!
Please guess, where are they from?
Ss: They are from America/England/France…
T: OK. I’ll tell you. They’re from Britain.
(强调Britain 一词的读音及含义)
b) Find your friend and get to know him/her.
T: Look! How many children are there in the photograph?
Ss: Eight.
T: You’re right. Now please choose. Which girl or boy do you like best? Can you tell us her or his name?

III. Talk about the children in Britain
a) Listen to the tape and when you hear your friend’s name, please read loudly after the tape. (听课文录音,当学生听到自己喜欢的朋友名字时就站起来大声跟录音朗读)
b) Exchange the information about your foreign friend
eg. My foreign friend is Barbara.
She is nine.
She likes sport and music.
She can ski.
Her favourite group is “ The Cool Girls”.
Her birthday is in December.
c) Play a game: Which child do you talk about?
Ask the pupils concentrate on the text and try to remember as many details as possible. Tell them to close their books and give them some information about one of the children in the photograph. eg. She likes music and sport. Her favourite sport is volleyball.
Her favourite group is “ The Fireballs”.
Guess: Who is she?
IV. Homework: Talk about your best friend

I. Warm up

II. Presentation
Introduce the pronunciation and meaning of the new vocabulary and structures.
Can you come to my place this afternoon? 今天下午你能来我家吗?
Sorry, I’m going to Diana’s place. 对不起,我准备去黛安娜家。
What’s the matter? 你怎么啦?
So What? 这有什么?
Come on over to Diana’s place. 过来到黛安娜家吧。

III. Decoding meaning from the text in the story
a) Pupils listen to the text two times with their books closed.
b) Pupils listen once or twice with their eyes closed and try to imagine what is happening from the tone of the voices and background noises.
c) Pupils listen and read the text two times with their books open.
d) Pupils listen and follow the tape one more time with their eyes closed and try to imagine what they saw in the text.
IV. Practice the story
a) Cover the words and photocopy the story, then ask the pupils to repeat the dialogue in groups.
b) Cut the cartoon story into pieces to make a jigsaw puzzle, then ask the pupils to work in groups to put it together.
V. Act out the story in class
a) Prepare acting out the story in groups by themselves for a few minutes.
b) Act out the story in class.
Ask the pupils to act out the story using different names. They could use their classmate’s names or the names of other people they all know.
VI. Homework:
1. Read the story and tell it to your parents.
2.Read and write the number. P65 Part 12

Teaching Aims:
Learn to use John’s text as a guideline for writing a short descriptive text about your best friend.
Key and Difficult Points:
a) Read John’s text. Then write it. Draw a picture of John’s friend.
b) Doing a language puzzle.
Teaching Instruments:
You need: pictures, pieces of paper and crayons
Teaching Process:
I. Warm up
a) Greeting
b) Sing the song: My best friend
II. Introduce John’s text
a) Ask the pupils to read John’s text for several times.
b) Look at the pictures and try to say out and write down the English words.
c) Ask the pupils to draw John’s best friend according to what they have just read.
III. Practice:
Write a short descriptive text about your best friend using John’s text as a guideline. Model: My best friend is ________. He’s/She’s _____years old.
His/Her favourite colour is _______.
His/Her favourite food is ________.
My friend has got a __________.
His/Her name is ___________.
He/She can ____________.
IV. Language puzzle
Put the sentences together for the pupils and read them without explaining any of the details. Ask the pupils to work in pairs to put the jigsaw puzzle together and when they have finished ,ask them how they did it.

Teaching Instruments:
You need: scissors, 3 pieces of ribbon (40cm each,3 different colours ), sticky tape. Teaching Process:
I. Warm up
a) Greetings
b) Sing the song: My best friend
II. Talk about Toby’s best friend Dina
a) Look at the pictures and try to find out some information about Toby’s best friend Dina. eg. Dina is _____ years old.
He can _____________________.
He likes ____________________.
He has got a_________________.
b) Ask the pupils to talk about Toby’s best friend Dina in pairs or in groups.
c) Ask some pupils to talk about Toby’s best friend in class using their own sentences. III. Make a friendship band
a) Show all the materials already prepared on the Teacher’s desk and teach the pupils how to pronounce them.
Scissors, three pieces of ribbon, sticky tape
b) Try to make a friend band
Make the band and at the same time tell the pupils what you are doing. Repeat each sentences two or three times:
1. Fold the ribbons in half. 把丝带对折。
2. Make a knot. 在上端打一个结。
3. Use the sticky tape. Fix the knot on a table. 用胶带把丝带固定在桌子上。
4. Make a plait. 将丝带编成辫子。
5. Tie a knot in the end. 在末端系一个结。
6. Give your band to a friend. 把你的友谊丝带送给一位朋友。
IV. Start to make a friendship band by themselves
a) Before the pupils start to make their own bands, read the instructions in book with them and then tell them to work individually or in pairs.
c) Show the friendship bands in class and give them to your best friend.
V. Homework:
1. Try to say out the method of making a friendship band to your parents, and show them how to do it.
Method: 1. Fold the ribbons in half.
2. Make a knot.
3. Use the sticky tape. Fix the knot on a table.
4.Make a plait.
5. Tie a knot in the end.
