DESCRIPTION

TheTSB12LV32(GP2Lynx)isahigh-performancegeneral-purposeIEEE1394a-2000link-layercontroller(LLC)withthecapabilityoftransferringdatabetweenthe1394Phy-linkinterface,anexternalhostcontroller,andanexternaldeviceconnectedtothedata-moverport(localbusinterface).The1394Phy-linkinterfaceprovidestheconnectiontoa1394physicallayerdeviceandissupportedbytheLLC.TheLLCprovidesthecontrolfortransmittingandreceiving1394packetdatabetweenthemicrocontrollerinterfaceandthePhy-linkinterfaceviainternal2-KbyteFIFOsatratesupto400Mbps.TheTSB12LV32transmitsandreceivescorrectlyformatted1394packets,generatesanddetectsthe1394cyclestartpackets,communicatestransactionlayertransmitrequeststothePhy,andgeneratesandinspectsthe32-bitcyclicredundancycheck(CRC).

TheTSB12LV32iscapableofbeing1394cyclemaster(CM),1394busmanager,1394isochronousresourcemanager(IRM)ifadditionalcontrolstatusregisters(CSRs)areaddedviatheexternalhostcontroller,andsupportsreceptionof1394isochronousdataontwochannelsandtransmissionof1394isochronousdataonfourchannels.

TheTSB12LV32supportsadirectinterfacetomanymicroprocessors/microcontrollersbyincludingprogrammableendianswapping.TSB12LV32hasageneric16-/8-bithostbusinterfacewhichincludessupportforaColdFireEmicrocontrollermodeatratesupto60MHz.Themicrocontrollerinterfacecanoperateinbyteorword(16bit)accesses.

Thedata-moverblockinGP2Lynxhandlestheexternalmemoryinterfaceoflargedatablocks.Thislocalbusinterfacecanbeconfiguredeithertotransmitorreceivedatapackets.Thepacketscanbeeitherasynchronous,isochronous,orasynchronousstreamingdatapackets.Thedata-mover(DM)portcanreceiveanytypeofpacket,butitcanonlytransmitonetypeofpacketatatime:isochronousdatapackets,asynchronousdatapackets,orasynchronousstreamdatapackets.

TheinternalFIFOisseparatedintoanasynchronoustransmitFIFO(ATF)andageneralreceiveFIFO(GRF),eachof520quadlets(2Kbytes).Asynchronousand/orisochronousreceivepacketscanberoutedtoeithertheDMportortheGRFviathereceiverroutingcontrollogic.AsynchronousdatapacketsorasynchronousstreamdatapacketscanbetransmittedfromtheDMportortheinternalFIFO:ATF.IfthereiscontentiontheATFhaspriorityandistransmittedfirst.Isochronouspacketscanonlybetransmittedbythedata-moverport.

TheLLCalsoprovidesthecapabilitytoreceivestatusinformationfromthephysicallayerdeviceandtoaccessthephysicallayercontrolandstatusregistersbytheapplicationsoftware.
