Due Attention Should Be Given to Spelling

Nowadays many students overlook the spelling in english study.

The reason for this phenomenon lies in several aspects. Firstly, the students don't spend much time in reading and memorizing the words they learned in the lessons carefully.Heavy study load takes much of their time. Secondly, Many of them think that reading and listening is more important in the english study while spelling is of little use.

To change this situation, I think we should begins from the following items. On one hand, ease the study burden to make the students assign their study time more reasonably. On the other hand, change the english study ideas of the students and let them know that the spelling is the basic skill to learn a kind of language and also very important.

In a word, to learn English well, everyone should put spelling, reading,listening and writing in the same position.

Due Attention Should Be Given to Spelling When it comes to the most difficult problem with English study, grammar, listening or writing may be the answer. However, it is

ridiculous that what a number of students don`t attach much importance to engenders a serious phenomenon-----spelling. A variety of students make spelling mistakes, which has a bad effect on their writing and further their English study.

Accounting for the problem, three main reasons should be listed. At the first place, students are to blame for the lack of their concern. Many students are not diligent enough and some others do everything just for passing exams, which leads to the ignorance. What`s more, English teachers are responsible for the phenomenon who don`t emphasize the importance of spelling. Last but not the least, the Chinese education system goes an inappropriate way and studying English in China is too mechanical and stiff.

Facing all of the reasons above, we need to take action to deal with the problem. First, it`s ourselves who are able to make a difference directly, which means diligence and emphasis. In addition, English teachers need to be more responsible and it’s a must for students to come to realize what the poor spelling means, so regular dictation for spelling is necessary.
