Lesson9: When Is It?教学设计

一、 Teaching aims:(教学目标)
1. Aims on the knowledge(知识目标) (1)
To enable Ss master New Year’s Day/ the Spring Festival/International Workers’ Day/Children’s Day/Teachers’ Day /National Day and the dates. (2)
To enable Ss understand and say: When is……? It is…….
2. Aims on the abilities(能力目标) (1) (2)
To develop Ss’ abilities of listening and speaking. To foster Ss’ abilities of communication.
3. Aims on the emotion(情感目标)
(1)To foster Ss’ consciousness of good co-operation . (2)To lead Ss to show their loveliness to our
motherland.
二、Key points:Ss can ask and answer with two sentences :
--When is it? --It’s……
三、Difficult points: Ss can express holidays and dates correctly.

4. Communicative Language Teaching 五、Teaching procedures:
Step1:Revision: review months and ordinal numeral
a.Ss look at my mouth’s shape and guess words of
months.
b.I will read ordinal numeral cards and hide a card suddenly,Ss say the word.
(Purpose:It can attract Ss by looking at mouth’s shape and guessing,it is funny with a hiding game.)
Step2:Presentation:
a).Show two boys and introduce “I’m January, I’m the first, we are friends, we are the date(stress “how to express the date”), then lead New Year’s Day.
(Purpose: Show words one by one and to enable Ss to understand “how to express the date in English, it also foster Ss’ ability of thinking) .
b).Show a picture of spring poems and play the sound of firecracker, let Ss guess this holiday , I teach the Spring Festival; then I ask “When is it?” Ss look at the text and answer “It is in January or February”.

(Purpose: Pictures and sound make Ss relax, It motivates Ss to guess and learn)
c).Show a calendar of June 1 , let Ss say the date by themselves. I ask“
What holiday is it ?” Some students say Children’s Day , then I teach it.
At last, Ss make dialogues with “When is it? It is……”
(Purpose: Say June the first by themselves can cultivate Ss the ability of using new knowledge)
d). When we learn Teachers’ Day, I sing a teacher’s song and lead to Teachers’ Day ,then ask “When is Teachers’ Day?” Ss answer It is September the tenth.
(Purpose: Ss are interested in singing , they learn English in a happy environment.)
e).When we learn National Day , I want to show a video of military parade and lead in National Day.
(Purpose: The video makes Ss excited and they learn better)
f).When we learn International Workers’ Day, I show pictures of workers and a song about workers, let Ss understand that this holiday is for workers , then I teach International Workers’ Day. Practice with “When is it? It is…… ”
(Purpose: Pictures and songs make this holiday be impressive in Ss’ heart, I also tell Ss to respect workers) .
Step3:Consolidation
a. Listen to tape and follow it.

(Purpose: Practice the ability of writing) Step7:

When is It’s
New Year’s Day January the first Children’s Day June the first International Workers’ Day May the first Teachers’ Day September the tenth National Day October the first Spring Festival January or February.
