ROSA 6.1

Installation Instructions

Please read the following instructions before installing ROSA 6.1 software provided by The Dow Chemical Company.

1) Uninstall the previous version of ROSA (if applicable).

a. Close all applications before uninstalling ROSA.

b.

Open the Add or Remove Programs utility in the Control Panel:

c. Select the previous ROSA version from the list of applications and then click

Remove.

d. Confirm your intention to remove the previous ROSA version by clicking the Yes

button.

e. If prompted about how to handle the deletion of shared components, click the Keep button to keep the shared component or the Remove button to delete them. If you want to remove these components, you must be sure other programs are not using these components. When it doubt, it is usually safest to keep the shared files.

2) Download ROSA.

a. With your web browser, go to: .

b. Determine which download file you need:

downloading the .exe file is the safest choice if there is any doubt

which installer is appropriate.

2. Select language

The installation kit is available in both English and Chinese. The choice

of installer language will affect the following items:

- Language displayed during installation process (end-use license agreement, verification of directory location, etc.) Language of Welcome screen (description of new features) Language of user interface for first use (which can be changed later)

c. After selecting the appropriate installation kit, click the Download hyperlink.

d. Fill in the registration information and click the Continue button.

e. Read the “Terms & Conditions for ROSA Download” and click the Agree button to

continue.

f. The download dialog box will appear. (The name of the file may be different,

depending on your choices in Step b, but should include rosa61

.)

g. It is recommended that the ROSA setup file be saved to your computer. To select

this option, click the Save button.

The Save As dialog box will appear.

It is recommended to save the setup file to your Desktop or some other convenient location on the C: partition of the hard drive. Progress during the download will be displayed.

k. The dialog will indicate when the download is finished (unless the “Close this dialog

box when download completes” option is checked).

l. It is recommended to Close this dialog box and make sure all other applications are

closed before installing ROSA. If no other programs are running, you can proceed

directly to the installation by clicking the Run button.

m. If the Run option (above) is selected, a securing warning may be displayed. It is OK

to continue by clicking the Run button (below). If the Don’t Run button is pressed,

the installation can still be started by finding the file and executing it.

3) Install ROSA.

a. If the Run option (above) is selected, the installation process begins automatically. b. Otherwise, locate the installer file that was saved (on the Desktop or some other

location). If you do not remember the location you saved it, use the system search

command to find it (search for the phrase rosa61).

c. Double-click on the ROSA setup file. Alternately, right-mouse click on the setup file

and click Install. (The name of the file may be different, depending on your choices

in Step 2b, but it will include “ROSA61

”.)

d. If the Application Maintenance dialog box appears, then ROSA 6.1 is already

installed on your computer. If you want to re-install the program, it is recommended

that ROSA 6.1 first be removed and then return to the beginning of the Installation

procedure.

e. The ROSA 6.1 Setup dialog box appears. Click Next >

to continue.

f. The License Agreement dialog box appears. After selecting “I accept the license

agreement”, the Next > button will activate. Click Next >

to continue.

g. The Destination Folder dialog box appears. It is recommended to install the program

in the C:\Program Files directory. Confirm this selection or change it using the

Browse button and then click Next >

h. The Ready to Install the Application dialog box appears. Click Next >

to continue.

i. The Updating System information box appears. Files are copied. No action is

required to proceed.

j. If the installation of ROSA 6.1 is successful, the following dialog box will be

displayed. Click Finish

4) Start ROSA.

a. Open ROSA by selecting Start > All Program > ROSA6.1. Alternately, for your

convenience, a shortcut is placed on the Desktop during the installation procedure.

The Welcome screen is displayed:

ROSA is a computer assisted tool for designing and operating reverse osmosis and nanofiltration systems and is the sole property of The Dow Chemical Company (DOW). Access to ROSA is

restricted to registered, licensed parties. No part of ROSA may be modified, operated, transmitted or copied by any means without prior written permission by DOW. ROSA may not be installed or operated from a network accessible by multiple work stations. ROSA must be treated as confidential and access must be limited. ROSA is protected by copyright of DOW.

DOW EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES ASSOCIATED WITH ROSA, ITS USE AND INFORMATION GENERATED THEREBY. ROSA IS PROVIDED AS-IS. Any use of ROSA or the information generated thereby is at the user's sole risk and Dow shall not be liable for any damages, including consequential, punitive, exemplary or incidental damages arising out of its use.

Subject to these terms, DOW is offering you a limited license to install and operate ROSA on a single dedicated computer work station. ROSA must be treated as confidential and access limited to only those individuals who have a need to know and who are legally bound to maintain such information as confidential.
