Unit2 Career Planning说课稿

周口科技职业学院----范霞

Hello, everyone.My name is Fan Xia, I come from ZhouKou Vocational College of Science and Technology. Today I’m very pleased to have an opportunity to talk about some of my teaching ideas. My topic is Career Planning taken from unit2 in College English of New Concept ,which is pressed by Beijing Publishing House .I will divide the text into four parts.

Part 1. My understanding of this lesson The analysis of the teaching material:

This lesson is a reading passage. By learning this text ,we can learn about some commom career planning mistakes,we will get some information and advice on avoiding such career confusions.

Teaching aims: 1. Knowledge aim:

1) The Ss can hear, read, and use the main sentence patterns 2) The Ss can understand the content of the lesson 2. Ability aim:

1) To develop the Ss’ abilities of listening, speaking and reading. 2) To train the Ss’ ability of working in pairs.

3) To develop the Ss’ abilities of communication by learning the useful structures

3. Emotional aim:

1) By doing the tasks and the passage, let the Ss know how to face up commom career planning mistakes

2) Improve Ss ability of working in pairs Teaching important points:

1).Learn the new words and expressions.

2)Make suggestions and explain points of views to others. Teaching difficult points:

1). Develop the students’ reading ability. 2). Use their own words to retell the text. Something about the Ss:

1. The Ss have known something about some common career confusions through the Internet and other ways.

2.Some Ss are not active in the class because they are afraid of making mistakes. Part 2 My teaching theories, methods and aids

Before dealing with this lesson, I’ll do my best to carry out the following theories: Make the Ss the real masters in class while the teacher himself acts as director; Combine the language structures with the language functions; Let the students receive some moral education while they are learning the English language.

Teaching method:

Double activities teaching method

Question-and-answer activity teaching method Free discussion method

Pair work or individual work method Teaching aids: 1. a projector 2.multimedia 3.the blackboard

Part 3. Teaching steps / procedures

I have designed the following steps to train their ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing, especially reading ability.

The entire steps are:

Revision, Lead-in and preparation for reading, Fast reading(scanning), Intensive reading, Preparation for details of the text, Consolidation, Discussion, Homework

Step. 1. Revision

1. Ask students some questions to revise the last lesson.

2. Check the homework. Through this part we can consolidate what they studied yesterday, communicate with others about their survery results and prepare for the new lesson.

Step 2.Lead-in and preparation for reading

Show them some new words and let them guess what the meaning of these

words are. For example: aspire scratch pursue and so on. Purpose: Arouse the students’ interest of study. Bring in new subject: Career Planning Step 3 Fast reading

Read the passage as quickly as they can. I show the questions on the screen and let them get the main idea of each paragraph:

1. What are the common career planning mistakes?

2.If one likes to write,does he have to become a writer? Why?

Method: Read the text individually, use question—and—answer activity. Purpose: Improve the students’ reading ability. Understand the general idea of each paragraph. Step4. Intensive reading

Read the passage carefully again and answer some detailed questions on the screen.

It is also called depth reading or study reading. It means reading for detailed information.

Purpose: Further understand the text (Train further reading ability) to find out some commom career planning mistakes

Step 5. Preparation for details of the text on the screen 1.aspire…. 2. be supposed to 3. pursue

Purpose: Train the Ss’ ability of understanding and using language. Step 6. Consolidation

1. Find out the topic sentences.

2. Retell the passage according to the topic sentences.

Purpose: I want to know if my students understand the whole text really and if they master what I mean to tell them in this class. What’s more, I want to let them have the ability of introducing and analyzing expression. At the same time, I will write down the topic sentences on the blackboard according to what the students find, so they can retell it easily.

Step 7. Discussion Show them a question :

What is the difference between avocations and vocations? Step 8. Homework

Write an article about My career planning, I want to improve the ability of their writing. At the same time, train the ability of do-it-yourself and looking up the information by themselves. Part 4. Blackboard design
