I. Teaching aims and learning objectives

The teaching aim's basis is established according to Junior School English syllabus' provision.

Knowledge objects

By the end of the lesson, students are expected to be able to:

1. Introduce and expand vocabulary to describe dangerous situations. 2. Guess context from the text type, the tittle and the picture. 3. Infer general meaning from pictures and actions. Ability objects

1. Develop Ss’ abilities of reading and writing.

2. Skim the text for overall meaning and scan for details. Moral objects

It is important to be careful with fire. And we should help each other.

II. Teaching important points

1. New words and expressions:be alone, hear sb shouting, pour water over, put out the fire, be in hospital, be careful with. 2. New structures: Fire is very dangerous.

2.Skim the text for overall meaning and scan for details.

VI. Teaching procedures

Step 1 Worming-up:

1.Learn some new words after the pictures. 2.Read the new words together.

3.T: Daniel is reading a newspaper article about fire, but there are some difficult words. Let’s learn the words with him. Match the words on the left with the meaning on the right.

Step 2 Lead-in:

1.T: Fire is very important for us in our fire. What can we use it for?

S: We can use it to make water hot, keep us warm, give us light and cook food.

2.T: Fire is useful, but it can also be very dangerous if you’re not careful with it. It can burn things or hurt people. A big fire can even burn forests and tall buildings, so keep yourself away from fire.
