高三英语 听力部分

Listening Comprehension

Section A

Directions: In Section A, you will hear ten short conversations between two speakers. At the end of each conversation, a question will be asked about what was said. The conversations and the questions will be spoken only once. After you hear a conversation and the question about it, read the four possible answers on your paper, and decide which one is the best answer to the question you have heard.

1. W: What kind of account do you want to open, sir?

M: A current account, please.

Q: Where does this conversation most probably take place?

2. M: What time is your mother arriving?

W: She was supposed to catch the noon bus, but she called to say she missed it. So she plans to take

the 3:30 bus, which will get her here at about dinner time.

Q: When will the woman’s mother most probably arrive?

3. W: I’m so sorry sir, and you’ll let me pay to have your shirt cleaned, won’t you?

M: That’s all right, it happens. And I’m sure that coffee doesn’t leave lasting marks on clothing. Q: What’s the most probable relationship between the two speakers?

4. M: Shall we drive to the cinema, dear?

W: Better not. The road is always busy at this time; besides, it’s so near.

Q: How will they probably get there?

5. W: Why are you so unhappy? Tomorrow’s test?

M: That’s right. You know I haven’t even turned one page of my book.

Q: What’s the man’s problem?

6. M: I just read your blood test report, and everything seems OK.

W: I see. Then there’s nothing to worry about.

Q: How does the woman most probably feel now?

7. W: The lecture this morning was so boring.

M: I’ll say I had one eye on the clock the whole time.

Q: What are they talking about?

8. W: Please go to the fruit stand and help me get some apples to make the pie.

M: No problem. But I’ll have to post the birthday card for Alice first.

Q: What is the man most probably going to do next?

9. M: Are you going to be ready for your presentation?

W: I’ve only got half of it finished and it’s taken me five hours just to do this much. There’s only an hour left before the presentation is due.

Q: What does the woman mean?

10. M: Hi, Lily! What happened last night? You hung up before I finished speaking.

W: Well, Tom. You didn’t see how my Mum stared at me. She would have cut the line if I didn’t

hang up.

Q: Why did Lily hang up the phone before Tom finished speaking last night?

Section B

Directions: In Section B, you will hear two short passages, and you will be asked three questions on each of the passages. The passages will be read twice, but the questions will be spoken only once. When you hear a question, read the four possible answers on your paper and decide which one would be the best answer to the question you have heard.

Questions 11 through 13 are based on the following passage.

You want to improve your language skills, but you don’t have the time to go overseas to attend school.

More and more universities around the world are offering opportunities for students to obtain degrees online (distance education) from the comfort of their own homes, and many of these institutions have met certain standards of excellence.

If you decide to take language courses online (or any subject for that matter), be sure to compare the benefits of studying online versus going abroad. The advantages of studying online are that the costs are usually lower, you can study at your own pace, and you have access to the materials 24 hours a day from almost any computer in the world. However, you won’t get the human interaction of meeting people face to face like you would if you were physically attending a school overseas.

On the other hand, the advantages of going overseas may include day-to-day opportunities to learn a new culture, meet new friends with whom you can use and practice the language, and chances to see different parts of the world. However, there may be a number of disadvantages for some including expense, time away from one’s school, family, or work life, and the challenge of adapting to a new culture and way of life.

Whatever you do, consider a distance education program that meets your educational needs, is within your budget, and equally important, provides you with opportunities to grow beyond the classroom through cultural and educational activities.

(Now listen again, please)

Questions:

11. Which of the following is true about distance education according to the passage?

12. In which of the following situations should we choose to go abroad?

13. What can we learn about distance education and going abroad from the passage?

Questions 14 through 16 are based on the following news.

BERLIN—Police roped off streets near Berlin’s Main Railway Station on Wednesday morning as a 100kg unexploded World War II bomb has been discovered nearby.

A police spokesman said the authorities would decide what to do with the bomb, which was found on Tuesday evening near tracks which run north of the train station.

The incident has caused traffic disorder as the station serves as one of the biggest railway centers in the country, while city traffic was also affected due to closed roads near the station.

Thousands of unexploded World War II bombs are believed to be buried in Germany.

BEIJING—Chinese health authorities said on Saturday that the country’s 16 confirmed H7N9 cases were isolated and there has been no sign of human-to-human spread.

As of 5 pm Friday, 16 people had been confirmed as being infected by H7N9 bird flu, six of whom have died, said the National Health and Family Planning Commission in a brief statement posted online.

Six cases, including four deaths, were reported in Shanghai, and three cases, including two deaths, were reported in East China’s Zhejiang province.

Elsewhere, Jiangsu province reported six cases and Anhui province one case.

All close contacts have been placed under medical observation, and only one of them has shown symptoms, though bird flu infection has already been excluded as the cause of this person’s illness, it added. (Now listen again, please)

Questions:

14. What does the first news report mainly tell us?

15. According to the second news report, how many H7N9 death cases were reported in Zhejiang Province?

16. Which of the following is true according to the news reports?

Section C

Directions: In section C, you will hear two longer conversations. Each conversation will be read twice. After you hear the conversation, you are required to fill in the numbered blanks with the information you have heard. Write your answers on your answer sheet.

Blanks 17 through 20 are based on the following conversation.

W: Good morning, sir. Welcome to Dream Downtown Hotel. Can I help you?

M: Good morning! I have a reservation for a single room with park view.

W: May I have your name, sir, please?

M: Bradley. John Bradley.

W: Just a moment, sir. Yes, we do have a reservation for you, Mr. Bradley. Would you please tell me your information while I fill out this registration form for you?

M: Yes.

W: What’s your nationality?

M: Canadian.

W: Well…would you tell me your passport number and show it to me?

M: JG275894. Here you are.

W: Thank you. Hmm…what’s your date of departure?

M: My negotiation ends on September 30th and I’m leaving the next morning.

W: I see. Now check the form and sign your name here, please.

M: Right. Well…here you are.

W: Great. Now everything’s in order. And here is your key card with all the information on your booking, the hotel services and the hotel regulations on it, Mr. Bradley. Your room number is 1415. It is on the14th floor and the daily rate is $160. Please make sure that you have it with you all the time. You need to show it when you sign for your meals and drinks in the restaurants and the bars. M: OK. I’ll take good care of it.

(Now listen again, please)

Complete the form. Write ONE WORD for each answer.

Blanks 21 through 24 are based on the following conversation.

W: Just look at my plant. It’s beginning to die—the leaves are all dried up. What do you think? Is it dead already?

M: Well, it’s rather dry. I think it needs a little more watering but the real problem may be the pot—this pot is very small. Could you replant it in a bigger pot? And then the roots could get some water. W: Oh, I see. Must the roots be under the soil?

M: Yes, they should be.

W: OK. How big a pot do you suggest?

M: Well, about 5 centimeters deep, I should think.

W: The depth is important then?

M: Definitely.

W: OK. Is there anything else? What about watering and sunlight?

M: You’d better water it every other day. It likes water but doesn’t like sunlight. So you can put it out at night and bring it in before the sun rises.

W: I can do that. So do you think I can save this plant?

M: I should think so. I know it’s quite dried up now but with a bigger pot it should survive.

W: Well, thanks very much for your advice. I’ll go and get a bigger pot tomorrow, and I’ll let you know how it gets on.

M: You’re welcome. I hope it does survive.

(Now listen again, please)

Complete the form. Write NO MORE THAN THREE WORDS for each answer.

That’s the end of the listening comprehension.
