Unit 5 Dinner’s ready

A Let’s learn

1. Teaching Contents

The part A “Let’s learn” of unit5 of the first period.

2. Teaching Aims

Knowledge objective:

(1)Lead the students to review some words of “food”

(2)The students can listen, speak and understand the word “beef, chicken”

(3)The students can understand and speak these sentences:

“What would you like? I’d like some…”

Ability objective:

The students can use these words and sentences in real situation proficiently.

Moral objective:

(1)Teach students to be politely in daily communication.

(2)To develop students’ consciousness of cooperation.

(3)To develop students’ good habits of eating.

3. Teaching key points

(1) The students can speak and understand the word “beef, chicken”

(2) The students can use the sentences “what would you like? I’d like some……” to order the food.

4. Teaching difficulties

Use the sentences: “what would you like? I’d like some.....” in the actual situation.

PPT, word cards, some pictures

6. Teaching procedure

Step 1. Warm-up

T: Good morning, boys and girls.

Ss:Good morning, Winnie.

T: How are you today?

Ss: I’m fine. And you?

T: I’m fine, too. Now, Let’s warm up, OK?

Ss: OK!

(Play the video of “I have two hands”)

Step 2. Lead-in

T: Today we are going to learn “Unit 5 Dinner's ready”. OK, first, let's review some words.

T: What's this?

Ss: It’s...

(Every picture is showed on the PPT. The students should speak out these words quickly.)

T: I know you all like yummy food. So today we will learn some more delicious food.

Step 3. Presentation

(Show the picture of “beef”)

T: What’s this? Who can guess?

Ss: 牛肉!

T: Yes! We call it “beef”

Students read after me some times. Practice “beef”one by one.

Let the students spell “beef”group by group.

(Show the picture of “chicken”)

T: And who can guess what’s this?

Ss: 鸡肉!

T: Yes! We call it “chicken”

Students practice the word some times, and lead them to spell it group by group.

T: Oh, it’s 6o’clock. I’m hungry now. It’s time for dinner.

Boys and girls, we have a new friend. He is Mr. Mike, and he is a cook. Let’s go to his restaurant, and buy some food, ok?

Ss: OK!

T: Hello, I’m Mr. Mike. Welcome to my restaurant!

Boys and girls, what would you like?

(Write this sentence on the blackboard.)

Let the students read after me some times.

And lead the students to answer: I’d like some...

Step4. Practice and Consolidation

1. Pair work

T: OK, now, who wants to be Mr. Mike? You can come here and make some food for us.

Lead the students to ask and answer.

S1: What would you like?

S2: I’d like some beef.

S1: Sure, here you are.

S2: Thank you.

S1: You’re welcome.

S2: Good bye!

S1: Bye!

(Let the students work in pairs.)

2. Play a game: What’s missing?

Put some words on the blackboard. Let students close their eyes. The teacher take one of the word away. Then ask the students which word is not on the blackboard.

7.Homework

(1) Write the new words in the exercise book.

(2) Two students in a group make a dialogue. Use the sentences:

“What would you like? ---- I’d like some...”
