Amir was a boy who was always desperate to win the approval of his father. He was eager to get more love and attention from his father. On one of the kite-fighting tournament , he determined to grasp this chance to prove that he was brave to his father. Hassan promised to help him and he did. But on the way home, Hassan came across Assef who is a bloody boy. When he critically hurt Hassan, Amir saw it clearly but didn’t stand out to protect Hassan.

This event caused a great turn in their life. Amir was guilty when he thought back the situation. He couldn’t stand it. So he wronged Hassan and forced Hassan to leave. Then they separated. Amir went to the United States. He gradually forgot the bad memory and began a new life there. But several years later, he was called back to Afghanistan(阿富汗). He knew it was the time to wash up his sin(罪恶).

I began to pull my kite back as people rushed to congratulate me. I shook hands with them, said my thanks. The younger kids looked at me with an awestruck twinkle in their eyes; I was a hero. Amir thought himself a coward(懦夫). But for this point, I think he is brave. Because he finally face his shame straightly and return back bravely to atone for his sin. I do think there must be shameful memory in everyone’s life. Some people run and hide. Some people face them bravely. That’s the real distinction between cowards and the brave.
