1、so that

(1)so that 引导的从句只可位于主句之后

(2)so that还可引导结果状语从句，表示“结果是，以致”的意思。 eg. They missed the bus so that they were late for class.

(3)区分so that 引导的从句表示结果还是表示目的，除了根据上下文意思区别外，还可以从形式上加以判断，即so that 引导目的状语从句时，该从句常使用can, may, would和should等情态动词。

eg.He went early so that he got a good seat.(结果) He went early so that he could get a good seat.(目的)

(4) so that 引导目的状语从句时，可用to 或in order to 替换，将其改为简单句。

eg. He got up early so that he could get to school on time.

He got up early to get to school on time. In order to get to school on time, he got up early. 2、so … that

(1) so … that 意思是“如此……以致于……”，引导结果状语从句。So 后需接形容词或副词，如果so之前是系动词，那么，so后面可跟形容词；如果so前面是其他动词，那么so后面可跟副词。

eg. She was so happy that she dancded.

He ran so fast that I could not catch up with him.

(2) so…that 结构在某种情况下可以与enough to和too…to结构相互转换。

◆So…that 句型转换的四种方法：

①当that从句是否定，that从句中的主语与主句中的主语相同时，用too…to转换。

eg. The girl is so yong that she can’t go to school. The girl is too yong to go to school.

②当that从句是否定式，that从句中的主语与主句中的主语不一致时，用too…for sb. To do转换。

eg. The English novel is so difficult that I can’t read it. The English novel is too difficult for me to read.

③that从句是肯定,that从句的主语与主句的主语相同时，用…enough to do 转换。 eg. He is so strong that he can lift it. He is strong enough to lift it.

④that从句是肯定，that从句的主语与主句的主语不相同时，用…enough for sb. to do 转换。

eg. He spoke so clearly that I could hear him. He spoke clearly enough for me to hear him.
