（1) despoil vt.掠夺，抢劫

The victorious army despoil the city of all its treasure. 得胜的军队把城里的财宝劫掠一空。

（2）rob…of 抢走……的某东西 The thief robbed a woman of her purse. 小偷抢了一位女士的钱包。

（3）accuse … of 控告……做某事；因……而指责 The police accused him of theft. 警察控告他偷盗。 He accused me of having neglected my duty. 他指责我玩忽职守。

（4）cheat … of 骗取……（的某东西） He cheated me of my one month’s salary. 他骗取了我一个月的工资。

He cleared the pavement of withered leaves．他清除了人行道上的落叶。 The machines ease the workers of heavy manual labor．机器减轻了工人的繁重的体力劳动。

They stripped the writer of his right to publish his books．他们剥夺了这位作家出版作品的权利。

在这一结构里，通常在of前加上 out，out of表示“丧失”，但out可以省略不用。如：
