Features of SUPERLOK Tube Fittings
SUPERLOK Tube Fitting is produced by a strict materialmanagement, a high precision design and the bestprocessing technology.
SUPERLOK Tube Fitting is tightened softly in linking andis leakage free entirely under shock, impact and hightension. Therefore, it can contribute for productivityimprovement and cost reduction to SUPERLOK TubeFitting users because It's the best product whose flow offluid is very smooth caused by Fitting's excellent innersurface condition.
SUPERLOK can be assembled easily without any otherspecial tool but the use of low quality tubing maydeteriorate Fitting's function.
SUPERLOK Tube Fitting secures the leakage preventionand sufficient tightness with less forces in all the tubingconnections and reduces the cost and potential leakagerisk in a course of tubing assembly and process.
Structure of SUPERLOK
The whole system design should be considered so thatthere is no problem to secure reliable safety.
SUPERLOK is consists of 4 precision parts and all partsare being manufactured through a very strict tolerancesuperintendence under systematic and constant qualitycontrol.
All parts that are being made by this process can copewith the inferior enviromental conditions and variouscustomer's needs.

Quality and Process Control
BMT's SUPERLOK Tube Fitting & Valve are produced asthe product of best quality through a statistical processcontrol and a strict quality control (various test and theself-examination included) and the written systematicquality control assurance.
Step 1
Insert the tubing into SUPERLOK Tube Fitting's inside. Atthis moment, make sure that the tubing is completelycontact with the shoulder of fittings and then finger-tightenthe nut.
Step 2
Before tightening the SUPERLOK nut, mark the startingpoint of turning at the 6 o'clock position.
Step 3
Hold the fitting body safely with a backup wrench andtighten the nut 1-1/4 turns. (pay attention to the mark ofstarting point of turning, make one revolution and place at9 o'clock position. Marking the starting point of turning atthe 6 o'clock position will let you notice where the startingpoint is).
After 1-1/4 revolution, when the starting point is placed at9 o'clock position, you can easily confirm and see thatSUPERLOK Tube Fitting is installed accurately.
After 1-1/4 revolution of the SUPERLOK nut by finger-tightening, make sure whether it is sufficiently tightenedusing by the Gap Inspection Gage.
Warranty of Quality and Exchange
BMT warrants that SUPERLOK Tube Fitting is beingmanufactured without defect in raw materials andmanufacturing process, with the guarantee of itsconstruction and workmanship of enough quality controland process control according to the specifications.However, the defect owing to user's recklessness, anunreasonable assembling method and operation and theoperation disregarding manufacturer's indications can notbe compensated.
In case that leakage happens by the defect onSUPERLOK Tube Fitting in spite of normal operation, allthe defected fittings shall be exchanged immediately. SUPERLOK acknowledges this leaflet is regarded aswarranty and does not publish separate warranty as longas special requirement issues are not required.

SUPERLOKInstallation Instruction
1. Installation under 1 inch or 25MM
SUPERLOK Tube Fitting shall be delivered to customerwith completely assembled state, so be ready toimmediate use only with finger-tightening. Disassemblingthe product prior to use can be a cause of leakage or acause of inflow something into the fitting's inside. Do notuse for the poor quality tubes, which can be a cause ofleakage or functional deterioration.

2. Installation at the high pressure or the highsafety systems Since there are various variations of tubing, unifying thestarting point of the fitting is desirable. The starting point isdetermined by that when tighten the nut by using awrench until the tubing shall not be turn freely in the fitting.At this point, make the 1-1/4 revolution and tighten thenut.
(If tube rotation is not possible, tighten the nutapproximately 1/8 turn from the finger-tight position)
3. Re-tightening Instruction
1. Shown the disconnected position of fittings.
2. When inserting the tubing with preswaged ferrule intothe fitting body, the front ferrule shall be seated in thefitting body.
3. Finger-tighten the nut and revolve the nut to the originalposition with a wrench. At the original position, theresistance increases. At the point, the job will be doneby tightening slightly more.
Safety Considerations on Installations for HighPressure System
(Apply to the installation of general system)
1. Make sure whether the thickness and material of tubingis proper to applicable usage. The material of tubing iscompatible with the material of fitting and the hardnessof tubing shall be less than that of fitting.
2. Do not assemble or disassemble the fitting when thepressure is hold at the system.
3. Since straightly assembled tubing to a pair of fixedfitting cannot be completely contacted with the bothsides of fittings' shoulder, there shall be a leakage riskcaused by deformation from high temperature and highpressure.
4. Do not turn the fitting body.

Technological Information
Hardness Limitation
Generally, heat treated tubing shall be used in Metaltubing so that can be used properly with SUPERLOKtube fitting.
Hardness of stainless steel tubing is being limited belowHRb90 but large majority of users are using the hardnessof tube limited below HRb80. On the other hand, it isactually economical to use tubing by lowering thehardness of tubing because the assembly is easy andtubing can be bent easily. Therefore, SUPERLOKencourage customers to use tubing with the hardness
below HRb 80. This is for customer's convenience andperfect leakage prevention in operation.
Compatibility
SUPERLOK is manufactured in order to be compatiblewith other firm's tube fitting from the beginning of designso that can warrant 100% confidence in case of beingmade under the mutual control of tolerance and hardnesswith other firm. But it is safe to operate with onlySUPERLOK products if possible.

Application Gas System
SUPERLOK is appropriate as the standard for makinguse of gas system, but potential leakage can beprevented by the implenentation of the below standards.
Tubing standard in gas system
(Apply to the installation of general system)1. The hardness of tubing shall be less than those offitting.
2. Surface of tubing must be free from scar, defect,pollution and etc. Shall be flexible and expansion oftubing should be easy.
3. Refer to able 2, 3, 4, 5 for tubing choice of suitablegas system.
4. End part shape of tubing should not be deformedespecially. (For example, the ending part of tubingshould not be an oval.)
5. End of tubing must be perpendicular to the center lineof tubing and be deburred. For these reason, tubecutting machine must have a sharp blade anddeburring tools should be used.
6. Firm connection shall be performed. Insufficientconnection is the main cause of leakage and failure ofsystem.
7. Do not bend tubing after inserting tubing into the fitting.8. Observe the procedure of operation which is suggestedby our firm.
9. Use minimum wall thickness of below table in order tosecure maximum safety in gas system.
Please refer to ASME B31.3-1993 concerning thedetailed information about the maximum & minimumtemperature of various materials.
THREADS
1. NPT (National Pipe Thread) Thread angle 60。 Tapered angle 1。47′
Manufactured by the standard of ANSI B2.1
2. ISO 7/1 TAPERED THREAD
Thread angle 55。 Tapered angle 1。47′
Equivalent to the standard of DIN2999 BS21(BSPT)and JIS B0203(PT).
3. ISO 228/1 PARALLEL THREAD
Thread angle 55。
Equivalent to the standard of BS 2779 (BSPP), JIS B0202 (PF).
As the thread in accordance with ISO 228/1 cannot besealed perfectly, the sealing shall be done by thefollowing method.
Use a gasket or O-Ring to seal.
Metal Gasket Seal
A metal gasket(generally copper) is sealed between thebody of male thread and the surface of female thread.
Application to Cryogenic and HighTemperature System
SUPERLOK Tube Fitting is suitable for vacuum systemas well as the situation of high pressure and fromcryogenic condition to high temperature. SUPERLOKTube Fitting has been tested repeatedly under variousconditions.
4. UNF Thread

This is classified into UN, UNC and UNF. The standardis classified by the diameter of thread and the numberof threads per inch.

Tube Selection
Suitable tubing selection is essential in performance oftubing system.
When selecting tubing material, size and wall thickness,customer must consider pressure, flux (flow), temperature,environment and compatibility of system.

Tube Bending
In case of bending tubing near at SUPERLOK fittings,there should be enough lineal distance from bendingpoint to the fittings as this can be a reason of leakage.(see the below Table).
This is essential to protect customer's system from theleakage. The required straight line length of tube shouldbe bigger than tube diameter. For more detailedspecifications and technology data, we suggest you tocontact SUPERLOK engineers.
ASTM A213, A269 or A632 or equivalent.
Stainless steel tubing for an oil pressure usage of highquality, annealed and seamless.(316, 304, 321,etc.)
Hardness : below HRb 80.
Tubing must be free from scars and shall be suitablefor bending and expansion works.
Monel tubing
ASTM B165 or equivalent.
400 alloy tubing of high quality, annealed andseamless.
Hardness : below HRb 75.
Tubing must be free from scars and shall be suitablefor bending and expansion works.

The requirements for tube quality of thematerial
Carbon steel tubing
ASTM A179 or equivalent.
Carbon steel tubing for an oil pressure usage of highquality, annealed and seamless. Maximum hardness : HRb72.
Tubing must be free from scars and shall be suitablefor bending and expansion works.
Multiply the allowable working pressure in Table 2, 3, 4,5 by the coefficient in Table1 in order to decide allowablepressure at high temperature. ( See page 12, 13)
Copper tubing
ASTM B65, B75 or equivalent.
Copper tubing of high quality, annealed and seamless.
Stainless steel tubing
