A Company in Guangzhou quotes its exporting price, USD100 per piece FOB Guangzhou, to a company in UK. But the UK company requires the exporter to offer CIF London price ( with the goods insured W.P.A.).

If the freight from Guangzhou to London is USD 8.79 per piece, the insured amount is 110% of CIF value and the premium rate is 1% of W.P.A. Please calculate how much this exporting company should offer CIF London price per piece with the same profit.

Ⅳ. Case Study ( Please write your answers on your answer sheet, 18%) 22. A Chinese exporter signed a CFR contract with an importer in American on canned meat for an amount of US$50 000 with payment by L/C at sight, shipment during May, 2010.

On the morning of May 5, 2010, the goods were all loaded onto the named vessel. And the Chinese exporter sent the buyer the shipping advice immediately on May 5 after shipment.

Unexpectedly when the American importer went to the local insurance company to insure the goods on May 6, the insurance company had already learned that the ship suffered a wreck on May 6 and refused to insure the shipment.

And then the buyer gave a notice to the issuing bank and asked the issuing bank to refuse the exporter’s documents. (1) According to UCP600, if the exporter’s documents are complying presentation, whether the issuing bank could refuse to pay? Why? (6%) (2) Who should be responsible for the loss and why? (6%)

(3) If the Chinese exporter sent the buyer the shipping advice on May 6, who should be responsible for the loss? Why? (6%)
