Tom is good at playing football.

We are studying English now.

We are Chinese.

He gave me a book.

We elected him monitor.

He is a new student.

The bike in the room is mine.

We will have the meeting in the big hall.

Tom, monitor of our class, is always doing well in the exam.

尤其注意由否定词构成的否定句;两者全部否定用neither或nor;两者的部分否定用not+both;三者以上的否定用none, nothing, nobody, no one等。 Neither John nor Mary is here.

Nobody agrees with what you said.

I don’t think he has time to play with me. I hope you weren’t ill.

(2) 特殊疑问句:用疑问词(what, who, how, why, when, where ...) What are you doing?

What is your name?

—He isn’t a student, is he?

—No. He isn’t.(是啊,他不是学生。) /Yes. He is.(不,他是个学生。) I dont think he is honest, is he?

He has never been to the US, has he?

He dislikes such a man, doesn’t he?

She isn’t a diligent student, for it is the third time that she has been late for school, isn’t it?

I don’t think he is lazy, is he?

You all know that he is honest, don’t you?

等+will you?

You clean the floor today, will you?

Those boys over there please come here, will you?

Are you from Scotland or England?

Don’t be careless! You be quiet!

Let’s go now, shall we? Let us go now, will you?

What a beautiful park it is! How beautiful the park is!

常见的并列连词有and, but, though, however, while, or, for, so, therefore, not only ...but also ..., either ...or ...等。

It is raining outside, so we will stay at home.

He couldn’t go to school, for he was poor.

Jane was dressed in brown while Mary was dressed in blue.

Whether she will come or not is still a question.

The question is who can complete the difficult task.

Do you know who (whom) they are waiting for?

The doctor whom you are looking for is in the room.

When he was eating his breakfast, he heard the doorbell ring.

1:He must be helping the old man to water the flowers, ?(2019·陕西) A. is he B. isnt he C. must he D. mustn’t he

2:Please do me a favour- my friend Mr. Smith to Youth Theater at 7:30 tonight.(2019·湖南)

A. to invite B. inviting C. Invite D. invited

3:You and I could hardly work together, ?(2019·湖南) A. could you B. couldn’t I C. couldn’t we D. could we

4:It’s the first time that he has been to Australia, ?(2019·辽宁) A. isn’t he B. hasn’t he C. isn’t it D. Hasn’t it

解析:选C。该句主语和谓语动词分别是it和is,所以反意疑问部分用isn’t it。 例5:—I wonder you’ll water this kind of flower. —Every other day.(2019·四川) A. how often B. how long C. how soon D. how much

解析:选A。

6:At first he hated the new job but decided to give himself a few months to see it got any better.(2019·北京)

A. when B. how C. why D. if

7:Stand over there you’ll be able to see the oil painting better.(2019·全国Ⅱ) A. but B. till C. and D. or 解析:选C。

8:You didn’t use to like him much when we were at school, ?(2019·上海春) A. were we B. weren’t we C. did you D. didn’t you

解析:选C。句中的主语和谓语动词分别是you和didnt use to,所以反意疑问部分应为did you。

例9:In some places women are expected to earn money men work at home and raise their children.(2019·四川)

A. but B. while C. because D. though 解析:选B。

10: the website of the Fire Department in your city, and you will learn a lot about Firefighting.(2019·湖南)

A. Having searched B. To search

C. Searching D. Search

\way, good people, make way, in the King's name! \he. \a text; and, I promise you, Mistress Prynne shall be set where man, woman, and child, may have a fair sight of her brave clothing, from this time till an hour past noon. A blessing on the moral Colony of the Massachusetts, where immorality is dragged out into the sunshine! Come along, Madam Hester, and show your scarlet (鲜红色的;罪孽深重的)letter in the market-place!

A lane was at once opened through the crowd. Led by the beadle (狱吏),and attended by an irregular procession of serious-looking men and unkind-looking women, Hester Prynne set forth towards the place appointed for her punishment. A crowd of eager and curious schoolboys, understanding little of the matter in hand, except that it gave them a half-holiday, ran before her progress, turning their heads continually to stare into her face, and at the winking baby in her arms, and at the shameful letter on her breast.

It was no great distance, in those days, from the prison-door to the market-place. Measured by the prisoner's experience, however, it might be considered to be a rather long journey; for, though her manner was proud, she perhaps underwent an extreme pain from every footstep of those who thronged to see her, as if her heart had been thrown into the street for them all to step upon. In our nature, however, there is a condition that the sufferer should never know the intensity of what he endures by its present suffering, but chiefly by the pain that rankles (使痛心)after it. With almost a calm manner, therefore, Hester Prynne passed through this portion of her suffering, and came to a sort of scaffold (刑台),at the western end of the market-place. It stood nearly beneath the eaves of Boston's earliest church, and appeared to be a fixture there.

24. What can we know about the schoolboys?

A. They knew a little of the matter.

B. They were full of curiosity and eagerness. C. They were happy for having a one-day holiday. D. They like Hester Prynne and her baby very much.

25. What does the underlined word “thronged\

A. Gathered.

B. Happened. C. Pretended. D. Regretted.

26. What can we know from paragraph 3?

A. The prison was really far from the market-place.

B. The scaffold is at the eastern end of the market-place.

C. Hester Prynne was thrown into the street for people to step on.

D. The sufferer mainly knows the intensity of the pain after the suffering. 27. What would probably happen to Hester Prynne according to the text?

A. She would be set free.

B. She would give a public speech. D. She would receive serious punishment.

C. She would put on a performance. 24-27BADD

C已选

In areas like the Central United States that get lots of tornadoes, theres a common piece of celestial (天上的)fortune-telling that green skies mean a tornado is on its way. Research

has shown that it isnt quite as simple as that, but scientists have found that if you see a green sky, you should probably go inside. As far as most scientists can tell, the green skies around powerful thunderstorms are usually a combination of red sunsets and water droplets. Daytime skies are blue because blue shorter wavelengths of visible light tend to bounce off (反射)air molecules better than red longer wavelength light. So the blue light gets bounced all over the sky and looks like it's coming from everywhere. Meanwhile, around sunset sunlight travels through so much atmosphere that just about all the blue is bounced away from the horizon, leaving all those reds and oranges behind. The sunset might look exclusively (独有的)red and orange, but there's still some green and even blue light hidden in there, just far less than the other colors. But for us to notice the remaining green light, itneeds to hit something that reflects green light much better than red. That’s where water comes in.

Big tall threatening storm clouds are made of water droplets, and even though water is best at reflecting blue light, it can still reflect green pretty well, much better than reds and oranges, so under just the right conditions, the water in and around a cloud can bounce the green light hidden in the sunset right into our eyes making the sky look green.

Still, none of the conditions that can turn skies green are unique to the clouds that produce tornadoes. Sometimes they just lead to lots of rain, and maybe some hail. So if you see huge

storm clouds rolling in and a green tint (色调)in the sky, it doesn’t necessarily mean theres about to be a tornado, but it does mean you should probably head indoors.

28. What can be the best title for the text?

A. Why Do the Central United States Get Tornadoes B. Do Green Skies Mean a Coming Tornado C. A Common Piece of Celestial Fortune-telling D. Green Skies Are Unique to Clouds 29. Why are the skies blue in the daytime?

A. Because only blue light can be bounced in the daytime. B. Because there is more blue light than light of other colors.

C. Because blue light is bounced all over the sky. D. Because red light is weaker than blue light.

30. What does the underlined word \

A. The sunset.

B. Red light. C. Blue light. D. Water.

31. What can we learn about from the text?

A. Storm clouds are made of water droplets and green light. B. Water can reflect red light as well as blue light. C. There are only red and orange lights in the sunsets. D. If you see a green sky, there will be a tornado.

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, the world's longest sea-based project, comprises four parts: a 22.9-kilometer steel bridge, two artificial islands, a submerged sea tunnel extending for 6.7 kilometers, as well as leading bridges that connect the bridge to the cities. For a bridge project, designers prefer to build all the structure on the ground, and only choose the tunnel when there is no alternative. However, for the HZMB, the most practical design is to integrate bridge, island and tunnel to form a complete cross-sea channel.

\Pearl River Estuary (河口)holds a world-level shipping channel. Smooth traffic should be guaranteed. And the location is near the Hong Kong International Airport. With about 2,000 flights taking off and landing at the airport, the bridge cannot be built too high for safety

5 “

reasons/said Meng Fanchao, chief designer of the project. But you cannot have a submerged sea tunnel without any support. That forced us to build the artificial islands.”

Chinese engineers declared a trail in installing deep-immersed tunnel tubes. There is no

9,

model for us to refer to as all the cases are shallow-buried tubes, said Meng.

\Haiqing, deputy manager of the Project Management Department. ''Everyone was exhausted when we made it.”

The 6.7-kilometer tunnel is the world's longest submerged sea tunnel.

Two artificial islands, covering an area of 200,000 square meters, help create a smooth transition between bridge sections and tunnels. Different from traditional island, the engineers put 120 steel cylinders (圆柱)with a 22-meter diameter (直径)into the seabed, make out the shape of an island, and fill the island with soil. It is an innovative way they adopted to build the artificial island, making it firmer, more efficient and friendly to the marine ecology. The HZMB provides a fixed link between the two Chinese economic centres Hong Kong and Macau and the mainland of China at Zhuhai.

32. Why isn't the bridge built too high?

6t

A. The bridge hasn't any support. C. The engineers lack experience.

B. It isn't safe to build it too high. D. The engineers want to make it special.

33. What can we know about the HZMB from the text?

A. All the structure of the HZMB is built on the ground. B. The 6.7-kilometre tunnel is the world's longest tunnel. C. The HZMB is the first to install deep-immersed tunnel tubes.

D. The installation of the first tunnel tube failed for the first time. 34. What’s the function of two artificial islands?

A. To declare a trail in building a sea-based bridge.

B. To prevent the pollution from affecting the marine ecology. C. To ensure smooth traffic between bridge sections and tunnels. D. To guarantee the safety of the ships going through the estuary. 35. What type of writing is this text?

A. An advertisement. B. Science fiction. C. An announcement. D. A news report.

Tipping is part of everyday life in many parts of the world. It’s usually an informal charge that's paid on top of the bill to show appreciation to the person who has provided you a service. Tipping culture can vary from place to place. In the Middle East, people who serve usually try to be more helpful. 36 . An example is the tour guides of Egypt. When a tourist goes around a famous site in Egypt like the pyramids, they11 often be accompanied by a very qualified tour guide. Thanks to the guide, a tourist will certainly know more about the pyramids than he or

she did at the start. 37 .

In some places, tipping doesn't exist at all. Tips aren't part of life in China, South Korea or Japan. But in other places in Asia, not leaving a tip can lead to trouble. An American travel agent told Conde Nast Traveler that in India, for example, a person who doesn't leave a tip after a meal in a restaurant will often be chased down the street. 38 , he said.

Many people only give tips on a subjective (主观的)basis. But it’s this subjective aspect to tipping that can cause problems. On the one hand, they don't want to be mean; on the other hand, they don't want to pay too much and feel that they've been cheated. 39 .

A common solution for this problem is to offer a guideline on the check. 40. This can prevent the awkwardness when it's time to pay up.

A. Tips are then given to appreciate the expertise of the guide B. If you tip badly, people think less of you C. They'll run after you and scream for money

D. It will suggest that a certain percentage of the bill should be paid on top as a tip E. Very often people who travel to the United States forget to tip F. After all, a tip isn't part of the bill G. But they may expect a little extra in return

B The wish to have or be something , especially one that seems difficult to achieve is desire, which you were born with , in every one of us. What all mankind seeks , whether it is admitted or not , is for a life of significance.

For any youth , to live a life of significance, he or she needs a focus to achieve his or her dreams or goals in life, but many who have eyes perish(消亡) for lack of vision , thoughsometimes we need to be blind before we can truly see. Most young people are dreamers , living in their dreams and forgetting that a dream is not something that makes you up, but something thatwakes you up. Some sleep while theylive; others live what they dream.

Someone once said, \

and they live in a state of constant amazement.\热诚的) about living and experiencing life on this planet of wonder— planet created by an act of wonder. We need people awake to wake us up and to draw us out of fantasy. The best dreams come true when you are awake.

People awake are interesting and usually energetic. They are the kind of people you just like to be around. They seem to sense the awesomeness of life and they have a tendency to make it spread from person to person. The reason many people fail is not for lack of vision, but for lack of determination.

George Bernard Shaw once said, \of things that never were and ask why not.\in your heart, which makes you stay awake and work earnestly to achieve it? The bigger your demand for life, the bigger the response. Life itself sets no limits. 58. We can conclude from the passage that people awake are those.

The first thing sold online was a CD. It was sold in 1994 for $12. 48. In 1995, Amazon launched its online bookshop, and later that year the online auction site that would become eBay sold its first item. Fast-forward to the modern day and online shopping is huge business. In contrast to the recent UK announcements that many high-popularity retail (零售) chains and department stores need to close retail outlets (专营店) to save money, online shopping is booming. In fact, the UK Office for National Statistics reported that growth in online sales has continued \

Maybe订s the convenience. Online shopping allows you to find what you need from the comfort of your own home. Then there's the variety. The wise shopper is able to select from a wide range of products from all over the world—while physical shops suffer from a more limited choice.

B. Awake or Asleep? D. Life of Significance

Better yet, consumers are now better able to specify exactly what they want, and in some cases, even modify products to create specially-made items.

Online companies are getting better at targeted advertising too. Our browsing (网上浏览) history and previous purchases are run through a series of mathematical steps, which produce advertisements that more closely link consumers to the products companies believe we would like to buy. And since these products are not physically on display in a shop, the company saves money on regular expenses like rent and electricity. This allows them to offer their products at a more reasonable price.

Then there's the reassurance. These days, the majority of online shops offer a safe, convenient returns policy, often at no shipping cost to the buyer—just print out the return label (标签),attach it to the packaging of the item and receive a full refund(退款). Not only that, but trouble-free complaint procedures and policies mean that if your item is damaged, incorrect or even unwanted, the company can be easily notified and action taken.

Many people still enjoy the experience of buying in a real shop. The dialogue and customer service received from staff and special events that may be taking place in store can be big pulls. However, the \for National Statistics, seems to imply that online retail is here to stay and will continue to be a major avenue to shopping for many customers. 61. The purpose of the first paragraph is to tell us .

A.traditional shops in the UK have been declining B.online sales have the advantage of retail chains C.the rapid development of online sales in the UK D.the short history of online sales all over the world

62. The benefit from online shopping mentioned in the passage is that

A.you might get something wonderful at an expensive price B.you can do shopping without leaving your off ice C.there are more options in physical shops than online D.what you need can be tailored to meet your demands

63. It can be learnt from the passage that

A.most online shops offer you worry-free after-sales service B.you need not pay for shipping when doing shopping online C.online shops'ads aim at attracting new online customers D.online shops'low operating costs result from cheap labour

64. Which of the following is true according to the passage?

A.Physical shops are struggling hard for survival.

B.Some people find pleasure in face-to-face trading. C.Online shops will finally replace physical shops. D.Full-scale online trading keeps growing annually.

\—the lead story from my last issue of Power & Presence-drew comments from several readers. Most of the comments went something like, \I could have the degree of control over my life that you apparently do.\

I want to say, I wish I had the degree of control over my life that it apparently looks like I have.

Earlier this summer, several of my 20-something neighbors who live in the apartments next door had a long and lively conversation in their back yard, which lies just beneath our bedroom window—wide open on this particular warmish night. The conversation included drinks of one type or another CI simply made some guesses), the containers for which, when emptied, got thrown (loudly) into a recycle container. The absurd took place between 2: 30 and 3: 30 a. m.

I debated for a while whether I should get up, dress, go next door, and have a conversation of my own. After tossing (扔硬币决定) and turning for about 15 minutes, I decided to communicate through my open window. I got up, and—I believe in a

fairly centered way-called out, \please.\They heard me, I think, since their voices quieted a bit. And while the cans continued to go into the recycles, they did so with perhaps a bit less energy.

But the damage was done, the horse out of the barn. What were my chances of getting back to sleep? I tossed and turned for another half hour but couldn't find my way back. I got up, walked the house, let out curses, and finally began to notice light dawning and birds singing around 4: 45. I lay down again and dozed (小睡) on and off between 5 and 8, and eventually got out of bed to face the day, tired.

I remembered my story about \连结) between my feelings and me. There wasn't much padding after a sleepless night. I talked to my husband. I honored my feelings. I even appreciated my neighbors'stupidness. I mean they're young adults having a summer outdoor party. Okay, it is the middle of the night, but I may have done similar stuff at that age. But in spite of my best efforts at reclaiming calmness, I mostly gave myself a pretty hard time about the fact that I'd written that story. Here I was having feelings. I can help others better manage their emotions, so why couldn't I manage my own? Why couldn't I make them go away?

I re-read my story. It helped. I didn't say I wasn't supposed to have feelings. I said I was supposed to be able to be aware enough to notice them and ride their waves. I said I wanted to make behavior choices based on my better instincts (本能) instead of acting out the emotion in unconstructive ways.

Then I understood that I wasn't upset with my neighbors any more; I was mad at myself for having such strong feelings. I was supposed to be \that\Because I teach and write about centering, I should be above these tiresome emotions.

In those moments of upset, I comprehended experientially that centering doesn't take emotions away. On the mat of life, as in aikido—a Japanese form of self-defense, the attack will come. It may come from the outside (my noisy neighbors) or the inside (strong feelings). How will I manage the energy? Will I freeze, fight, fall over, or move in toward the energy and use it wisely? I can be centered and upset. I hope, in fact, I am centered when I'm upset. When I'm centered I will hold the emotional energy differently. In time, as they always do, the feelings died down and transformed, much like the thunderstorm that also passed through that night. 65. What do most comments on the author's story suggest?

A. They disagree with her. B.They misunderstand her. C.They appreciate her story. D.They envy her self-control.

66. When the author called out to the young people, .

A.she tried to control her voice so as not to disturb other neighbors B.she shouted as loud as she could so that she could be heard clearly C.she intended to go and have a serious conversation with the crowd D.she expected them to make apologies for how they were behaving

67. What mental events can you see in the author's mind during the incident this summer?

A. Anxiety and regret. C Anger and hesitation.

B. Despair and tension. D. Forgiveness and wish.

68. What does the author mean by saying that she even appreciated her neighbors'stupidness?

A.It brought back lots of happy memories of her youth. B.It reminded her how she should react to such a matter. C.It was a good example to support her idea in her story. D.It helped her realize the actual existence of stupidness.

69. The underlined phrase \

A.release them fully from you B.hide them from other people C.deal with them in a proper way D.promote an exchange of them

70. What did the author emphasize at the end of the passage?

A.The effect of strong feelings. B.The consequence of centering. C.The harm of becoming upset. D.The way of solving conflicts.

Being in a team involves making attachments to other members of the team. Some of these attachments might develop to become secure and safe, while others might be characterised by tension or insecurity. Sometimes we might even disconnect ourselves from the team or from an individual team member, making us unable to form constructive relationships.

We know from the research of Harvard Business School Professor Amy Edmondson that the level of trust and psychological safety in a group can separate the great teams from the rest. When studying surgical teams at several hospitals in the U.S. , Edmondson found that the surgical teams delivering the best results were the same teams that committed the most errors. But why did the best teams also report more mistakes and \The team members trusted each other and had formed sufficiently secure attachments, making it safe to say \\

Trust is essential for the high-performing team. In the long run, no team will survive without it. Team dynamics will instead turn into the dynamics of a \is more focused on his/her own lines and ambitions, and where many of the most important decisions are made backstage. The team meets and talks about what is on the agenda, but everyone knows that core issues are avoided or silenced.

Basically, team members have to speed up trust building in ever-changing teams as follows.

Share concerns and be respectful and present when team members do the same.

Remember that most people are highly aware of other team members'reactions when self-disclosing So as a listener, looking on your phone or zooming out when another team member is sharing something important might have a much more negative effect next time around than you'd like to think. They might think \a team meeting, and not just with Tom and Lisa afterwards, since they are the only ones that seem interested in what I have to say\

Give regular feedback (反馈) to each other, not only on results, but also on effort. As the research of Stanford University Professor Carol Dweck shows, giving feedback on effort and persistence can foster (促进) a higher willingness for individuals to take on new challenges and believe in their own potential. Focusing only on results of ten raises defensiveness and fear of failure in many.

Show a willingness to learn. Discuss mistakes, \misses\and learning opportunities at every opportunity. Let the arrivals know that you want to learn from their previous experience. Create a climate of continuous improvement, for example, by conducting evaluations as a part of every team meeting or project completion.

Living in an environment full of fiercer competition, we, a generation born in the 2000s, are faced with problems of entering higher schools and getting employed. Under these

They worry that we care too much about ourselves and are unwilling to cooperate with others, which makes it hard for us to achieve success in whatever we do. Today, there’re parts of our life that stress the benefitsof being slow. And as we age,we might see the benefits of slowing down a little bit. While we often seek to prevent theprocess of aging, one necessityand potential benefit of aging may be to appreciate the benefitsof slowing, enjoy the here and now alittle bit more, and not to worry so much about thefuture. 28.How does technology affect younger people accordingto the author? Humans have always considered themselves special compared with other animals. One reason is the complexity of our language-bounded by unique rules, such as syntax, where we string words together in a specific order to create meaningful sentences. But it turns out a bird may also vocalize(发声)with syntax rules.

The Japanese great tit is a bird that’s a close relative of North America’s very own chickadee.Toshitaka Suzuki of Japan’s Graduate University for Advanced Studies has beenlistening to the calls of the Japanese great tit for the past decade.Suzuki has recorded at leastten types of alarm calls used by the bird. One of those is known as the ABC call, which warnsother great tits of the presence of a predator(捕食者),and another is the D call, which signalsthe birds to approach the caller.

Now Suzuki and his colleagues have found that the great tit uses those calls together to deliver both messages to other birds. And they found that the order of that call was vital-only ABC-D call made sense to the birds. When the scientists intentionally changed the order to create a D-ABC call, the birds did not respond. The study is published in the journal Nature Communications.

“I think the really interesting thing is why the order matters, and figuring that out I think will be difficult but also potentially really, really interesting, because it'll give a lot of deep understanding...”said David Wheatcroft of Sweden’s Uppsala University, a member of the study scientists.“You wouldn’t expect that it would matter.Obviously it matters in human language, the order in which we say things, but it's still somehow amazing when you find it in birds. So I think understanding why it’s the case will be really interesting in the future”

The work could help explain the evolution of the building blocks and structure(结构)of our own language.
