SECTION A

1.I’d like to help homeless people.我想帮助无家可归的人。

homeless 是形容词，意为“无家可归的”。

Many homeless children were saved by the government. 许多无家可归的孩子得到了政府的救助。

He promises to do his best to help that homeless boy.

他答应会尽他最大的努力去帮助那个无家可归的孩子。

拓展：less是表示否定意义的形容词后缀，这样的单词还有：hopeless“无望的”；careless“粗心的”；sleepless“不眠的”；useless“无用的”等。

2.You counld give out food at the food bank.你可以在食品救济中心发放食品。 give out意为“分发，发放”，是由“动词+副词”构成的动副型短语，相当于hand out。 Give the money out to the children.把钱分给孩子们。

3.Clean-Up Day is only two weeks from now.清洁日离现在只有两周了。 (1)clean-up用作名词，意为“打扫，清洁”。 We must give our classroom a good clean-up. 我们必须把教室好好打扫一下。 (2)clean up意为“打扫”，up为副词，此短语是动副型短语，如果宾语为代词，应放于两词 之间；如果宾语是名词，可放于两词之间或两词之后。 Please clean up this street at once.请马上把这条街打扫干净。

put off意为“推迟”.off为副词，若接代词则放于两词之间；后接名词可放于两词之间， 也可放于两词之后。
