Background

Rancho, Farhan, Raju, namely the “three idiots”, are three college students in a college of engineering. This school is the best college of engineering in India.

While all students there are just study robots in the charge of the president of the college , the only purpose they study is to get a good job after graduating.

Brief Introduction

Farhan Qureshi, Raju Rastogi, and Rancchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad "Rancho" are three engineering students who share a room in a hostel at the Imperial College of Engineering "ICE".

Farhan is studying engineering to pursue his father's wishes over his own wish to become a wildlife photographer.

Raju is studying to raise his family's fortunes.

Rancho, driven by his passion for machines and devices, studies for joy of it.

Professor Viru Shahastrabudhi, also the headmaster in ICE, has a special pen.He just look at the results and pays no attention to process, and accepts no extension. His favourite pupil is Chatur.

Pia is ViruS’s daughter, and she is a outgoing medical student. She first met them at her sister’s wedding when she had a boyfriend who is

miser but she fell in love with Rancho later.

Chatur who is their classmate is completely opposite from Rancho. What he does best is rote. He is also good at pleasing teachers and laughing at “3 idiots”.

ICE is a school where scores decide everything. Rancho is a unique student there. He has a extraordinary ability of making machines. He used a simple physical machine to trick a senior. He hates rote while his classmate Chatur. In order to persuade Raju not to be another Chatur, Rancho revised some words of Chatur’s speech paper written by the librarian. Because of the lack of understanding of Hindi, Chatur mindlessly memorises the speech and he becomes the laughing stock of the audience.

He saved Raju’s father’s and Raju’s lives.

He touched and changed his best friends’ lives in his way.

Professor ViruS is proud of him and gives him the pen.

Pia ran away from her wedding because of him.

All three idiots become successful and they have a happy ending.

Personality

Rancho（兰彻）：

Smart and naughty

Farhan（法涵）:

Crazy with photography

Study engineering to pursue his father’s wishes , while he want to become a wildlife photographer

Raju（莱俱）：

Comes from a poor family, have a sick father and unmarried sister Under the pressure , he become shy and overcautious(畏首畏尾) Once committed suicide, fortunately, he survived

Personal feelings

We were lead by the path we took,Laugh with tears ,Weep with smiles The film is not just a comedy film. It tells us what attitude you should have when you face with the future. In the film, you can see a lot of social problems, such as education system, the gap between rich and poor, the social class contradictions, the suicide. Maybe some of them are the problem we are facing with at present. You can also know what’s the real friendship and love.

“All is well” is the most important line in this film and you can really feel hopeful when you see the film. It is optimistic.

Competition

From birth we were taught-life is a race. Run fast or you will be trample

In the natural world, the weak will be replaced by the strong and the fittest can live; therefore, the only way to survive is to be competitive. Growing in a competitive environment is important for a child because future adult life is difficult. Finding a good job, for example, is an extremely competitive activity. Today, most people obtain knowledge through various ways and a large number of people get good education. There are also many people who have higher degrees in their special fields. The quality of people is rapidly increasing. Competition is more violent that what we thought it should be. The potentially successful job applicant has to be prepared in a stronger position by gaining more qualification and experience. In the sports contests, the strongest will come out as winners. They become our heroes and they are glorified. In the business world, to beat your competitors, you must be better than the other employees. Otherwise you will be defeated.

In fact, the only way our world reward people is to give laurels to the winners, not to the losers. What is more, by attempting to compete at different activities, we learn to win and lose, gain experience and know

our strengths and weaknesses. Competition prepares us for the tough things in life.

As a college student, to go ahead, to acquire future potential possessions, we should be competitive. Industriousness and ambition are positive values. Whether in games, in study or in self-improvement alike, the aim is to win the game, the degree, the trophy, and the contract. Learning to be competitive is clearly the best preparation for life, especially for us college students.
