阅读下列短文,从每小题所给的四个选项(A、B、C、D)中选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。

A

If you want to teach your children how to say sorry, you must be good at saying it yourself, especially to your own children. But how you say it can be quite tricky.

If you say to your children “I'm sorry I got angry with you, but...”What follows that “but”can render the apology ineffective: “I had a bad day” or “your noise was giving me a headache” leaves the person who has been injured feeling that he should be apologizing for his bad behavior in expecting an apology.

Another method by which people appear to apologize without actually doing so is to say“I'm sorry you're upset”; this suggests that you are somehow at fault for allowing yourself to get upset by what the other person has done.

Then there is the general, all covering apology, which avoids the necessity of identifying a specific: act that was particularly hurtful or insulting, and which the person who is apologizing should promise never to do again. Saying “I'm useless as a parent”does not commit a person to any specific improvement.

These pseudo-apologies (伪道歉) are used by people who believe saying sorry shows weakness. Parents who wish to teach their children to apologize should see it as a sign of strength, and therefore not resort to these pseudo-apologies.

But even when presented with examples of genuine contrition (悔悟) ,children still need help to become aware of the complexities of saying sorry. A three-year-old might need help in understanding that other children feel pain just as he does, and that hitting a playmate over the head with a heavy toy requires an apology. A six-year-old might need reminding that spoiling other children's expectations can require an apology. A 12-year-old might need to be shown that raiding the biscuit tin without asking permission is acceptable, but that borrowing a parent's clothes without permission is not.

56. If a mother adds “but” to an apology,

A. she doesn't feel that she should have apologized B. she does not realize that the child has been hurt C. the child may find the apology easier to accept D. the child may feel that he owes her an apology

Dad, in a hurry to get home before dark so he could go for a run, had forgotten to wear his safety belt-- a mistake 75% of US population make every day. The big question is why.

There have been many myths about safety belt ever since their first appearance in cars some forty years ago. The following are three of the most common.

Myth the Number One: It's best to be \ Truth: Sorry, but any accident serious enough to \you clear\is able going to be serious enough to give you a very bad landing. And chances are you'll have traveled through a windshield (挡风玻璃)or door to do it. Studies show that chances of dying after a car accident are twenty-five times in cases where people are \clear\

Myth Number Two: Safety-bets \in water.

Truth: Sorry again, but studies show that people knocked unconscious (昏迷) due to not wearing safety belts have a greater chance of dying in these accidents. People

wearing safety belts are usually protected to the point of having in these accidents. People wearing safety belts are usually protected to the point of having a clear head to free themselves from such dangerous situation, not to be trapped in them.

Myth Number Three: Safety belts aren't needed at speeds of less than 30 miles per hour (mph).

Truth: When two cars traveling at 30 mph hit each other, an unbelted driver would meet the windshield with a force equal to diving headfirst into the ground from a height of 10 metres.

67. The reason father was in a hurry to get home was that he __________. A. wasn't feeling very well B. hated to drive in the dark

C. wanted to take some exercise D. didn't want to be caught by the people 68. According to the text, to be \clear\of a serious accident is very dangerous because you ________.

B. may get serious hurt thrown out of the car

C. may find it impossible to get away from the seat D. may get caught in the car door

69. Some people prefer to drive without wearing a safety belt because they believe _______.

“Tear them apart!” “Kill the fool!” “Murder the referee!”

These are common remarks one may hear at various sporting events. At the time they are made, they may seem innocent enough. But let’s not kid ourselves .They have been known to influence behavior in such a way as to lead to real bloodshed. Volumes have been written about the way word affect us. It has been shown that words having certain connotations (隐含意义) may cause us to react in ways quite foreign to what we consider to be our usual humanistic behavior. I see the term “opponent” as one of those words .Perhaps the time has come to delete it from sports terms.

The dictionary meaning of the term “opponent” is “enemy” “one who opposes

your interests.” Thus, when a player meets an opponent, he or she may tend to every action no matter how gross, may be considered justifiable. I recall an incident in a handball game when a referee refused a player’s request for a time out for a glove change because he did not consider them wet enough .The player proceeded to rub his gloves across his wet T-shirt and then exclaimed, “Are they wet enough now?”

In the heat of battle, players have been observed to throw themselves across the court without considering the consequences the such a move might have on anyone in their way. I have also witnessed a player reacting to his opponent’s intentional and illegal blocking by deliberately hitting him with the ball as hard as he could during the course of play. Off the court, they are good friends. Does that make any sense? It certainly gives proof of a court attitude which departs from(违背) normal behavior.

Therefore, I believe it is time we elevated (提升) the game to the level where it belongs, and setting an example to the rest of the sporting world. Replacing the term “opponent” with “associate” could be a better way to start.

The dictionary meaning of the term “associate” is “colleague”; “friend” ; “companion.” Reflect a moment! You may soon see and possibly feel the difference in your reaction to the term “associate” rather than “opponent”.

71.Which of the following statements best expresses the author’s view? A.The words people use can influence their behavior.

B.Unpleasant words in sports are often used by foreign athletes. C.Aggressive behavior in sports can have serious consequences.

D.Unfair judgments by referees will lead to violence on the sports field. 72.The underlined word gross in the third paragraph probably means . A.complex B.rude C.guilty D.royal

73.What did the handball player do when he was not allowed a time out to change his gloves?

A.He angrily hit the referee with a ball. B.He refused to continue the game. C.He claimed that referee was unfair.

D.He wet his gloves by rubbing them across his T-shirt. 74.According to the passage, players in a game may______.

A.kick the ball across the court with force B.lie down on the ground as an act of protest

C.deliberately throw the ball at anyone illegally blocking their way D.keep on screaming and shouting throughout the game

75.The author hopes to have the current situation in sports improved by ________. A.regulating the relationship between players and referees B.calling on players to use clean language in the court C.raising the referee’s sense of responsibility

D.changing the attitude of players on the sports field

阅读下面短文并回答问题,然后将答案写到答题卡相应的位置上(请注意问题后的词数要求)。

Confidence: you’ve either got it or you haven’t, right? Wrong. Most people learn confidence as they go through life. Even if you are shaking like a leaf on the inside, you’ll make a lasting impression if you can come across as confident. Here are some confidence-building tips.

Fake it! If you can pretend that you feel confident when you don’t and keep on doing so, your fake confidence will soon turn into real confidence. It only takes a few repetitions of an activity for it to become a habit—so get in the habit of .

Think it. For an instant encouragement to your self-esteem, recall three things that give you positive emotions. It could be a great compliment somebody paid you, a special time when you felt happy and popular, or when you really excelled (胜过别人) at something. Bringing them to mind will help you to feel good instantly—and when you feel good, you have greater confidence.

Focus it. Difficult situations, such as interviews or new jobs, can make you feel shy. If you’re feeling anxious about yourself, stop thinking about yourself and focus on something else. It could be that you focus on something normal, like the view out of the window, or that you pay more attention to the task at hand—getting the job! Either way, you'll feel less awkward.

Talk it. If you keep telling yourself that you're not good at something, you’ll start to believe it. Next time you blame yourself, ask yourself whether you'd talk to your friends like that. So quit being negative and start recognizing and appreciating the things you are good at. Walk it. Great posture can signal great confidence. Walk with a purposeful stride, walk with your back straight and with your head held up high! 76.What is the best title of the passage? (within 8 words)
