Background information :
Students : Junior high school students,Grade 2 .Foundation of students is not very good.They are quite lively. Accept ability of the students is also good. Teaching materials: SEFC book 2 A Lesson duration: 45mins Teaching objectives: Knowledge objectives:
1. Able to learn and master the significance of the Past Participle used as adverbial and the specific usage of Past Participle used as adverbial
2.Able to compare the differences between the Present Participle and the Past Participle used as adverbial. Emotional objectives:
1.Able to talking about rhymes, songs, limericks and poems to raise the students’ interest in poetry. Competence objectives:.
1.Able to use Past Participle used as adverbial .
2.Able to tell the Past Participle used as attribute and Past Participle used as adverbial apart.
3.Able to use a adverbial clause to substitute the past participle phrase as
adverbial.

Key point: mastering the significance and specific usage of the Past Participle
used as adverbial.
Difficult point:distinguish the voice and tense of of the Past Participle used as adverbial.
Teaching procedures: Step ⅠWarming-up(2minutes ) 1.Greeting
2.Review the last period lesson Step ⅡGrammar explain(20 minutes ) 1.Show the two sentences on the screen.
The past participle used as adverbial.Look at the two sentences on the screen, ask students who can tell us their Chinese meaning.

3.1 Ask one or two students to point out the past participle used as adverbial and teacher explain the significance of and the specific usage of it.
Use PPT to explain the significance and the specific usage of past participle. Past participle phrase as adverbial, can represent a time, reason, conditions, can develop into an adverb.
一般式 (done) 表示分词动作与谓语动作同时发生或分词动作发生于谓语动作之前。
完成式 (having been done) 强调分词动作发生在谓语动作之前。例如: (a).Scolded (As she was scolded) by the teacher, the girl sat there without lifting her head.
II.过去分词作状语时的具体用法: 主动形式 被动形式 现在分词一般式 现在分词完成式 过去分词 doing Having done Being done Having been done done A.分词一般式的被动语态(being done)强调动作正在进行中。 例如: The house being built will be our office building.
Being surrounded, the rebel troops were forced to surrender. B.分词完成式的被动语态(having been done)强调先于谓语动词。 例如: Having been criticized bu the teacher, Li Ming gave up smoking. Not having been invited, he felt very unhappy. C.过去分词也表示被动,但没有强调动作先后的含义
例如: The concert given by the symphony orchesta was a great success.
They are problems left over by history.
Seen from the hill, the city lookds magnificent.
HAVING BEEN DONE还有表示状态的意思,现正维持的一种状态(这裏的动词一定要是可持续动词)
过去分词一般式 BE DONE,表示过去的一个动作,不可持续 done 表示被动或完成。 being done 表达被动进行。
例如:Compared with China, Japanese is much smaller.与中国相比,日本小得多。(表示被动).
praised by her teacher, she was very happy.(表示被动完成) Being questioned by the police, he felt terrible. (正在被警察审问) Step Ⅲ Practice(20 minutes ) 1.The practice in the textbook.
Ask students to turn to Page 30,and look at Grammar Part 1.Complete each sentence by using the past participle of the right verb. Before doing that, ask one or two students to tell the meanings of the words in the box.And then ask Ss to check the answers.

Ask Ss to look at the example on Page 30. Here are two sentences. They both have the same meaning but their adverbials are expressed in the different ways. Study the example and then rewrite the sentences on Page 31, using a clause to substitute the past participle phrase.
