I. Lead in Activity

1. Ask the students to look at the picture on Page 132 in the textbook and discuss in pairs what they can learn from the pictures, and what the pictures make them think of. They should make use of the words given under “ Ideas”.

2. The students should discuss in pairs whatever they know about antiques, cultural relics, auctions etc. Then some students from different groups should report their partners’ opinions to the class.

3. Ask students to give their own opinions about antiques and cultural relics, centering on such questions as how to evaluate the value of antique and how to protect a country’s cultural relics. After studying the text, they should gain some knowledge about antiques and auctions.
