Unit 4 It’s Warm Today.
Chang’an No.1 Primary School Yan Nanning
Good morning , ladies and gentlemen. My teaching content is “Unit 4 It’s Warm Today.”in Book 4. Now I’d like to analyse my ideas in the following four steps.
一. Step 1 :Talking about the teaching material
(一) First, Let’s talk about the Status of the teaching
material: All the students have known the weather report. In this lesson they can learn how to make the weather report and talk about the weather in English. Such as “Good morning, this is the weather report. It’s warm in Beijing . It’s cool in Lasha.” This activity can train the students’ ability of using English. Moreover, the students can say “ What’s the weather like in ??” that foreshadows the new sentence’ learning of this lesson.
(二) And then I will talk about the Teaching aims which includes
four parts. a. First, the Basic knowledge learning aim: Get the students
to master the five words : weather, warm, cool, cold, hot. And to use the sentence pattterns “ It’s warm in ?”. b. Second, the Developing ability aim : Improve the
students’ oral English. Develop their communicative ability.
c. Third, the Emotion aim: Develop the students’
enthusiastic attitude towards English learning.
d. Forth, the Culture aim: Know the weather information of
every place in our country. Encourage the students to love the country.
(三) After that, Let’s talk about the key points and difficult
points.
According to the teaching content and teaching aims, I take these two points as the key points and difficult points:
a. One is to enable the students to listen, speak,and read
the five new words.
b. The other is to get them to use the language in real life. 二.. That’s all for step one. Now , Let’s go to step 2: Talking about the teaching methods.
It’s generally believed that if we want to achieve a goal and develop the students’ ability of using English. We should arouse the students’ desire to learn and to take part in activities warmly. Such kind of learning motivation comes from two aspects:
1. One is that they are interested in the learning content. 2. The other is that they are confident.
So , I use the following five teaching methods: 1. No.1: Create real situations: I design the situation of getting
preparation for going to the Hope School in some poor places. 2. No.2: Use the communication method: In the activities, I lead
the students to communicate with each other and use English as much as possible.
3. No.3: Use the task-based teaching method: I Organize the
students to find the weather information on the interlet . 4. No.4: Create a perfect assessment system: I evaluate the
students from every aspect in order to arouse their interest. 5. No.5 :Conform the multi-media : The whole teaching procedure
are conformed with the multi-media.
三.Now , Let’s go to the next step: Step 3: talking about the learning methods
The main teaching purpose is not the accumulation of the knowledge
but the development of thinking. In order to have the students cultivate good studying habits and form the effective study tactics, I guide them to use the following learning methods:
1. First. The students are grouped in a round way that suits for communication .
2. Second. They master the language through careful observation and imitation.
3. At last. They learn through their personal experiences. 四. Now , here is the most important step. Step 4.
Talking about the teaching procedure. In this section, it includes five aspects.
(一) The first aspect is preparation .
Before the Lesson, I tell the students that we will go to visit the children of Hope Schools in some poor places, such as Lasha, Changning, Duolun, and Hechi . Organize the Students to look for the weather information and make some pictures .
(二) The second aspect is Warming up and revision
1. Let’s sing the song writen by myself. The song can enliven
the atmosphere of the whole class and draw the students’ attention to the class. We sing and dance, It’s warm today. We are so happy. Look, I have a blue dress..
2. (Multi-media the pictures of clothes.) I like the blue dress,
What do you like? I ask the students. Now , We can go over the old words , such as yellow shirt,, green skirt, etc. (三) The third aspect is Presentation
1. First , present the words and the sentence patterns: .
It’s warm today. Maybe we will have a nice holiday. I tell the students. Let’s watch the weather report. (the multi-media
present the report)That situation is so vivid . We can know the theme of this lesson. 2. And then get the students to learn the new words by using the words software.
(Present the lesson )In this way, they can learn the new words very well.
(四)The forth aspect is Practice:
In this part, I design an activity of collecting school things for the children of the hope schools . If the students do well, they can get more school things for their team.
1.First, I design a picture game which left deep impression on the students. When playing the game they also integrate the four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. 2.Then, I Display some pictures made by the students and get the desiger to describe the pictures. At last, get them to select the excellent picture on the internet.
3.Look, I design a chant:
Report, report, this is the weather report. Hot, hot , it’s hot in Hechi.
Warm, warm, it’s warm in Changning.. Cool, cool, it’s cool in Lasa. Cold, cold, it’s cold in Duolun. 4. After doing that, the students have already mastered the language. Now , they can cooperate with each other and use the language in the real situation. I tell them because the children in the poor places have no TV or computer, they can not know the weather of other places. Get students to look for the weather information of every place in our country for them. I design a form like this and get them to make a survey .For example,?(Present the form) Also I will hold a competition in the class in order to see who gets the most items. In this activity, the students can communicate with each other and practice “ What’s the weather like in ..? It’s ??
(五) The fifth aspect is Consolidation and Extension In this part , I create the situation to have students use the language and take the further step to consolidate and extend the knowledge. 1.First, As the students have recorded the weather information of some places , I lead them to make the weather report in their team . At last, get some of them perform before all the class. (present the lesson)Of course ,We will select the excellent reporter to report the weather for the children in the holiday’s activity.
2.Second. Because the students have known the weather of those four places well, I guide them to prepare for the clothes. Get the students use the new words and sentences about weather , review the words about
the clothes. At the same time, they must Pay attention to the polite expression. For example. (present the lesson) In this part, the students can use the language in daily life freely by a large scale of communicative activity.
(六)In addition, the students prepare a song for the children of hope schools. That’s a pretty song. Listen..(present the song.)
(七) After the lesson, I design an assessment form like this.. According to the whole assessment, Arouse the students’ desire to study English and optimize the teaching procedure. (八)At last is the assignment:
1. First. Looking for the weather information about those four places and make a record.
2. Practise the weather report and the song that prepared for the children of hope schools.
3. Collect the school things for the children and make a record. ( 五) Blackboard writing Now, I’d like to say something about my blackboard writing. It shows the key points and difficult points of this lesson. It also looks like a weather report scene.
