This Standard was prepared by the Standards Australia Committee on Cross-linked Polyethylene (PE-X) Pipe to supersede AS 2537-1982. It applies to mechanical jointing fittings intended for use with PE-X pipe complying with AS 2492, Cross-linked polyethylene (PE-X) pipe for hot and cold water applications.

1 SCOPE 1 范围

This Standard specifies requirements for mechanical jointing fittings suitable for use as fixed joints, with cross-linked polyethylene (PE-X) pipes manufactured in accordance with AS 2492.

4 CLASSIFICATION 4 分级

Insert-type fittings shall be classified by their pressure class, viz. PN 12.5, PN 16 and PN 20 for fittings for use with pipes in accordance with AS 2492. Other fittings shall be classified as the maximum pressure class for which they are suitable.

5 PRESSURE RATING ACCORDING TO TEMPERATURE 5 根据温度而定的压力等级

The working pressure of cross-linked polyethylene pipe, according to pipe material temperature, is given in Table 1 in order that the appropriate pressure for a particular pressure class of pipe can be

used to carry out the fittings tests in this Standard.

6 SIZE AND TYPE 6 尺寸和型号

The methods of specifying the sizes and types of fittings shall comply with Appendix B. 连接件的尺寸和型号确定方法应符合附录B的要求。

7 COMPOSITION 7 成分

Fittings shall be manufactured from corrosion-resistant materials. The materials used shall be compatible with the pipe material. The composition of each material shall comply with a relevant Australian Standard, where applicable.

Copper alloy fittings and components in contact with water shall comply with the dezincification resistance requirements of AS 2345.

Components in contact with drinking water shall comply with AS/NZS 4020. A scaling factor of 0.01

shall be applied, except for the microbiological test where a factor of 0.33 shall be applied. 与饮用水接触的部件应依照标准AS/NZS 4020。除使用换算系数0.33做微生物测试的场合外,应使用系数0.01。

9 FREEDOM FROM DEFECTS 9 无缺陷 9.1 General 9.1 总则

The defects described in this Clause cannot be completely quantified. Where the presence, size or frequency of any defects is considered to be of concern, arrangements should be made between the purchaser/water authority/certifying body (as appropriate) and the manufacturer. This may be achieved by the provision of acceptable type samples or methods of test.

9.2.1 General requirements 9.2.1 总体要求

The fitting shall be clean, smooth and free from burrs, fins, irregularities and sharp edges that could affect the performance or function of the fitting in service and the safe handling of the fitting during installation and use. There shall be no imperfections that will score the pipe or cause damage to other fittings.

The surfaces of plastic components shall be free from grooves, pinholes, blisters, heat marks or other imperfections that would affect the performance or function of the fitting in service.

Fittings made from metallic materials shall be sound and free from folds, laps, blisters, laminations, blow holes and other imperfections that could affect the performance or function of the fittings in service. Copper and copper alloy fittings shall comply with the workmanship and finish requirements of AS 3688.

Pitting shall not be present on sealing faces or thread faces. 10 FASTENING 10 紧固

Fitting ends required to connect to pipes or fittings of other materials shall comply with the connection requirements of the appropriate Standard that applies to the connection.

连接件末端如需与其他材料的管子或连接件相连,需要满足适用于接头的相应标准对接头的要求。 All threaded ends and components of the fitting shall be capable of being tightened without jumping or stripping of the threads or damage to the fitting, when a torque of 30 N.m ±5% is applied. 当施加30 N.m ±5%的扭矩时,连接件的所有螺纹头和部件都应能够紧固且不会跳丝或剥落螺纹或损坏连接件。

Fittings ends required to join cross-linked polyethylene pipe to the fitting shall comply with the performance requirements of this Standard.

11 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS 11 性能要求

11.1 Selection of class of pipe 11.1 管子等级选择

All cross-linked polyethylene pipe used in testing shall be appropriate to the class of fitting and to the diameter for which the fitting under test was manufactured and shall comply with AS 2492. All test joint assemblies shall be made in accordance with the instructions of the fittings manufacturer. 所有用于测试的交联聚乙烯管都要与连接件的等级和被测试连接件的直径相配合,并符合AS 2492的要求。所有用于测试的连接组件都应按照连接件制造商的说明进行制作。

The geometry of fittings under test shall be selected at the maximum and minimum extremes of dimensional tolerance. Selection of fittings to be type-tested shall be performed to test ?worst case? joint assemblies.

Where fittings with unequal ends are to be tested, the internal hydrostatic test pressure shall be calculated using the larger end pipe dimensions.

11.2.1 Pressure resistance of fittings

When tested in accordance with Appendix C, fittings shall withstand an internal pressure equivalent to hoop stresses in the pipe of 4.8 MPa for a minimum of 1 h and 4.2 MPa for 3000 +100, ?0 h at a temperature of 95 ±2°C. 当按照附录C测试时,连接件承受的内部压力应相当于下列状况的管内环向压力:温度95 ±2°C,4.8 Mpa至少1小时或4.2 Mpa持续3000 +100, ?0小时。

NOTE: With plastic fittings, the purchaser or statutory authority may require further evidence of long-term behaviour at elevated temperatures.

When an assembled joint is tested in accordance with Appendix E, there shall be no leakage in the joint or fitting.

When an assembled joint is tested in accordance with Appendix F, the joint shall remain intact and shall not leak.

When an assembled joint is tested in accordance with Appendix G, there shall be no leakage in the joint or fitting.

When an assembled joint is tested in accordance with Appendix H, there shall be no leakage in the joint or fitting.

When an assembled joint is tested in accordance with AS 3707, for 500 000 +50 000, ?0 cycles at 95 ±2°C, there shall be no leakage in the joint or fitting. 当装配好的接头按照AS 3707,即温度95 ±2°C,循环 500 000 +50 000, ?0 次测试时,接头或连接件不得出现渗漏。

11.2.8 Pressure resistance of joints 11.2.8 接头耐压测试

When an assembled joint is tested for 165 +24 ?0 h in accordance with Appendix I, the joint or fitting

shall withstand, without leakage, an internal pressure equivalent to a hoop stress in the pipe of 10.5 MPa at 20 ±5°C and 4.6 MPa at 95 ±2°C. 当装配好的接头按照附录I测试165 +24 ?0小时,接头或连接件在承受下列压力下不得出现渗漏:内部压力相当于温度20 ±5°C下10.5 Mpa的管子环向压力或者温度95 ±2°C下4.6 Mpa的管子环向压力。

All branches or outlets of fittings shall be completely assembled in accordance with the use for which they are intended.

(Applicable only to metallic fittings.) The bodies of fittings shall be capable of withstanding a pressure test which shall consist of either—

(a) the application of an internal hydrostatic pressure of 2.0 ±0.2 MPa for a minimum of 15 s; or

(b) the application of an internal air pressure equal to 0.7 MPa for a minimum of 5 s while the fitting

is completely immersed in water.

The test shall be carried out after all machining and screwing operations, where applicable, have been completed and before any protective coating has been applied. The body of the fitting in each case shall not leak.

NOTE: For cast fittings, it is common practice to pressure-test the body of each fitting. Where a sampling plan is adopted, the manufacturer should test all units within a batch from which non-conforming test specimens were drawn.

Statistical sampling is a procedure which enables decisions to be made about the quality of batches of items after inspecting or testing only a portion of those items. This procedure will only be valid if the sampling plan has been determined on a statistical basis and the following requirements are met:

This Appendix sets out a method for determining the pressure resistance of fittings intended for use with cross-linked polyethylene pipe.

The total length of pipe shall have a free length (L) between end connections at least equal to 3 times the nominal outside diameter of the pipe, subject to a minimum of 250 mm.

This Appendix sets out a method for determining the suitability of the joint components for cross-linked polyethylene pipe under the combined effects of differential thermal expansion and creep of the plastic material.

(a) Tank An enclosed tank capable of being used at the appropriate test pressures and of receiving the test specimen. The inside of the test joint assembly shall be open to the atmosphere through the walls of the tank. The assembly shall be arranged so as to enable any leakage to be detected within the test specimen while the joint assembly remains intact within the tank. It is essential that the pipe and fitting joint assembly be set up within the tank such that a clear view is permitted through the joint assembly.
