Analysis of Several Roles of Pride and Prejudice

Two same attitudes, but different, one is prejudiced first and then arrogant, the other is arrogant first and then prejudiced. This is how the two protagonists Elizabeth and Darcy have different views on each other.

When I first saw the title of this book, "Pride and Prejudice," my first feeling was how these two unrelated words are closely connected with the ups and downs of the plot. From the end of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century, Britain was still in a conservative and closed state. The protagonist, who was born in a squire family, met Darcy who came to live in the country by accident. Darcy is a handsome young man, very rich, and many girls show courtesy to him. But he was very arrogant and thought they were unworthy. And the beautiful protagonist Elizabeth, ten girls with strong self-esteem, decided to ignore this guy and was very biased against Darcy.

This is the beginning of the story, however, the beautiful love happened between these two young people. Darcy gradually became interested in Elizabeth's cute behavior, and Elizabeth's prejudice against Darcy gradually disappeared. In spite of many twists and turns, the last holding hands brought a happy end to the whole story.

The character I admire most is Elizabeth. She is a sensible, humorous and playful girl. It is rare to see sensible women, but sensible and lovely women are even rarer. Darcy's arrogance made her unhappy, and Wakeham's inverted black and white made her hate Darcy, so she decisively refused his marriage proposal. Darcy, a young master born with a golden key in the upper class, looks handsome, and of course she is the prince charming in women's hearts. However, she has her own principles. As the book once said, you can do anything, but never get married without love. The marriage in Elizabeth's heart must be based on love. This does not mean that she does not consider each other's status and wealth at all, marriage without considering these is undoubtedly stupid. With rational choices and decisions, marriage has a material basis. Without the modification of love, it will not be perfect, and neither will be happy. Establishing marriage on the basis of love is a smart decision.

Later, Elizabeth realized through Darcy's letter that everything was a misunderstanding and Darcy was the victim. What Wickham said was all lies. The fact was that Wickham himself squandered the inheritance and tried to seduce Darcy's sister Georgiana to elope. Elizabeth regretted it after reading the letter. She blamed herself for her stupidity and felt guilty for blaming Darcy for wrong. In the summer of the following year, Elizabeth accompanied her uncles and parents to Pembery, the manor of Darcy. At the door of the housekeeper, she learned that Darcy was very respected by the local people and loved his sister Georgiana very much. Elizabeth ran into Darcy, who had just arrived home in the woods, and found that his attitude had changed greatly. He was polite to her uncles and parents, gradually eliminated prejudice against him, and gradually transformed into sincere love.

As people of different classes, the combination of Darcy and Elizabeth would have to bear secular prejudice. Darcy's aunt Catalyn once ridiculed her, and then Elizabeth

wisely refuted it. She said, Madam Catalyn, your whimsical request is true and unreasonable, and many of your words are superficial and boring. If you think you can say these things and I give in, then you have misunderstood the person. To what extent your nephew will let you interfere with his affairs, I don't know, but you have no right to interfere with my affairs anyway. Therefore, I ask you not to force me on this matter. This is the wisdom and sharpness that belongs to Elizabeth. I think because of this, Darcy no longer arrogant but completely respects her.

As for Darcy, his arrogant attitude is indeed uncomfortable. But although he is proud, it is because of his own excellence. He has a good family, he is rich, he has proud capital, and he has the right to be proud. After reading the whole book, I even think Darcy's arrogance is lovely. In the book, Manli once said that vanity and pride are two things that are completely forbidden. Although literally they are often used as synonyms, one can be proud but not vain. Pride is mostly nothing more than our evaluation of ourselves, but vanity involves what we want others to think of us. Darcy's arrogance has more self-confidence and poor explanations, which makes people somewhat magnified and misinterpreted. Elizabeth said that if he did not offend my pride, I would easily forgive his pride. Everyone has their own pride, and some people's pride is very low-key, generally no one will offend, some people will become the focus of attention because of their own factors. Just like Darcy, he has a good background, and people want to get close to him and pay attention to him. His pride has become a high-profile thing, and it has gradually expanded into people's arrogance.

One cannot be totally denied, everyone has his own merits. Darcy also has a kind and generous side. He did not publicize Wickham, who had ruined his sister's reputation and encroached on his property, and took the initiative to promote his marriage to Delia. Repay his gambling debts and find a job for him. To Elizabeth, although he was a bit arrogant at first, he gradually learned to respect her and love her. After being refused marriage, he still put down his male dignity and continued to chase love. Darcy's tolerance, gentlemanly demeanor and consistent true love really hit me. Elizabeth should feel happy, such a perfect lover, can definitely stay with him for life. Wickham, I have to say, a good ironic supporting role. The author interprets this role so real with vivid brushstrokes. He has done a lot of shameless things, but he still behaves as elegantly as before, smiles nicely, and talks peacefully. He has gone beyond the basic level of being a person, but still walks his own way calmly. Although he has a handsome appearance, he has a worldly heart inside. He is just a man of extraordinary growth. I understood what he did, but I didn't accept it. His choice is a typical representative of society at that time. At that time, who would preach that marriage must have love? Even now, most marriages are just meeting a suitable person at the right time.

In the same way, Charlotte, a person with a great insight into things, also chose money marriage. She chose Collins, a man who proposed to two women in three days. What she values is his social relationship and status, and what she pursues is material enjoyment. She must not understand the meaning and feeling of true happiness.

what is love? I don't understand, but I yearn for it. What is marriage? I don't know, but it must be the sublimation of love.

Austin wrote this book with delicate brushwork, which promoted the free pursuit of marriage and love and the idea of opposing money marriage. I was very moved. Love is the most beautiful feeling, it keeps two people together, and marriage is the most happy ending, it keeps two people together for a lifetime. The pursuit of free love will bring true happiness.
