since和for都可用于含有现在完成时或现在完成进行时的句子。since可作介词,后接 时间点,也可作连词,后面接从句。而for为介词,后面接时间段。如: Mr Smith has been living in Beijing for five years. Mr Smith has been living in Beijing since five years ago. 【拓展链接】
对“since + 时间点”、“since + 从句”或“for +时间段”进行提问时,用how long,句中的谓语动词用延续性动词。如:

2. 一般过去时、现在完成进行时和现在完成时的区别: How long did you skate? (一般过去时)
How long have you been skating? (现在完成进行时) How long have you been here? (现在完成时) 注意:
1) 一般过去时表示在过去某个时间发生的动作或存在的状态, 该动作已结束, 不强调同现在的关系。
2) 而现在完成进行时表示动作从过去开始发生一直持续进行(到现在), 可能仍在进行, 也可能停止了一会儿。
3) 现在完成时强调的是:
① 表示过去发生或已经完成的动作对现在造成的影响或结果。
② 过去某一时间开始并一直持续到现在(包括“现在”在内) 的动作或状态, 可以和表示延续的时间状语连用。
注意这三个时态语意上的差异。 【训练案】
