Why is a space left between the rails of a railway line where one piece joins the next?
1)Some parts of the water are very shallow. But in some places it is veryvery_____. A. deep B. high C. cold D. dangerous
2)Mrs O’Neill asked_____questionsand she didn’t scold us either.
A. no B. certain C. many D. more
Here’s a fellow who just walked into a bank and helped himself_____so much money. A. for B. by C. to D. of
Soon I heard a_____like that of a door burst inand then a climb of feet.
A. sound B. cry C. voice D. shout
And video cameras can be used to_____people’s actions at home.
A. keep B. make C. record D. watch
It has been many years since I was last in London_____I still remember something that happened during that visit.
A. and B. for C. but D. as
根据句前的many years和句后的still remember答案应选表示
(Immediately)the officers jumped into their cars and rushed to the_____hospital.
A. animal B. biggestC. plant D. nearest

23.A 此为一强调句型,repairing the old clock在原句中充当介词in的宾语。
24.A 此句考查have sth. done(请别人做某事)句型。
So do sb句式是一个倒装句,sb要求用代词主格形式,故选A是错误的。

would love to have done something的意思是“原本很想做某件事,但因为某个原因没有做成”。相当于should have done的意思。 24.B 该答句补充完整应当是“I'm planning to go to the show”,省略了不定式短语“to go to the show”,需要保留不定式符号to。
救援队原本希望赶来救助的,但是却failed to get there in time。

由从句中的短语the worst(of the trouble)判断出该定语从句应当用of which来引导。
意思是:to react in a particular way to something。例如:How was the play received?(观众对这出戏反映如何?)The reforms have been well received by the pubic.(公众对改革反映良好。) [3]
