一、参加托福(TOEFL)考试

(一)考试时间:这项考试每年在中国举办4次,分别是1月16日、5月15日,8月8日和10月24日。

(三)最佳安排:最好能在大三结束、大四开始之前考托福,即参加8月8日的考试。

二、参加研究生入学资格(GRE)考试

(一)考试时间:这项考试每年在中国举办3次,分别在2月、4月和10月。

(二)考试形式:分能力考试和专业考试两种。能力考试可以安排在出国的头年,专业考试可以安排在出国的当年。

(三)成绩要求:一般都能过。

三、参加英语口语和水平(TSE)考试

考试时间:这项考试每年在中国举办4次,分别在1月、5月、8月和10月。

四、准备本科四年的成绩单

(一)因为往往是提前到大三就申请出国留学,所以一般只能取得三年的成绩单。

(二)成绩单既要中文原件,也要准备英文译件,而且两份文件要同时加盖公章封入信封,信封上还须再加盖封签章。

(三)美国各大学要求要准备一至二份成绩单,因此,如果联系的是5所大学,就要准备10份成绩单。

五、准备一份自我介绍材料(personal statement)

(一)字数:500~1000字。

(二)要求:要写出自己对本专业的很成熟和独到的看法;说明自己的精神状态以及对前途的设想;要写得有感染力。

(三)自我介绍材料必须用英文。

六、写三封推荐信

推荐信一般请大学领导、教授或知名人士来写。

七、写个人简历

个人简历包括教育背景、工作经验和自己各方面的优势与长处,要言简易赅。

八、准备一份论文或论文提纲
