HP Integrity BL870c/880c/890c i2 Server Blade - How to Reset the ILO/MP and Login

Issue

Unable to access the MP on a BL890c i2 blade server as the password is not functioning or was forgotten.

Solution

On the new BL8x0c i2 blades the default login and password is not Admin/Admin any more, so there are some new steps to reset the ILO/MP login.

On these servers we need to use the Physical Presence Button, the button is in a pin hole so a pin is required to press it.

ILO soft reset

Press Physical Presence Button for less than 4 seconds Press Physical

A soft reset can be performed using the MP>CM>XD command or the ILO GUI.

TPM (Trust Platform Module for HPUX systems) reset

Press Physical Presence Button for greater than 4 seconds and less than 8.

MP/ILO login reset

Press Physical Presence Button for greater than 8 sec and less than 12 to reset the iLO login. On a BL870c i2 or a BL890c i2 the button on the first blade to the left(monarch blade) needs to be pressed.

Once the MP is reset there will be no prompt asking for a login to access the MP, all that is required is to get access to the MP through the ILO IP address or a local serial console or laptop using the SUV serial port.

There will be no prompt to access the ILO/MP and this message will show up:

会出现以下提示，此时敲2次回车或者使用默认密码可以登陆mp

Now the system will provide 15 min to modify the accounts password or create a new one. Once a new password or account is set in order to get the MP to normal mode before the 15 min the SO command can be used.
