ALEX: I can see by your resume here that you studied business administration. MORGAN: That's right.

ALEX: So I wonder why you want to work for a newspaper.

MORGAN: I did reporting for the university newspaper at my school. And I've always been very interested in journalism.

ALEX: But journalism--it's a very different profession from administration. You know a lot about administration.

Why don't you choose to work for a company looking to train managers?

MORGAN: I studied administration, yes, but I am more attracted to writing articles. I want to use my knowledge of business to write financial news. ALEX: A new reporter must expect to work many hours. MORGAN: I know that the profession requires dedication.

ALEX: You should expect to work more than fifty hours a week. And there is a lot of pressure in this job. You have to get stories in by the deadline.

You have to be very independent. You have to know how to arrange things by yourself. MORGAN: I know that beginning reporters work many hours. I am very willing to take on the challenge. ALEX: May I ask how well you know the city? MORGAN: I grew up here.

ALEX: But you went to college in Maine.

So you haven't lived here for almost five years, yes?

MORGAN: Yes, that's true. But I grew up on the north side of town.

And I know this city very well. I have no trouble getting where I need to go. ALEX: That's good. Because if you're hired, we will be sending you everywhere. The job is in the city news department. MORGAN: Yes, I'm aware of that.

ALEX: Judging by the stories you gave us, I'd say your writing is very good. Have you written things other than newspaper stories?

MORGAN: I have experience writing newsletters for a health club. I mentioned that in my resume.

ALEX: You did that while you were in school? MORGAN: Yes.

ALEX: Oh, yes, I see it. Well, I think our interview is complete then. Are there any questions you would like to ask me? MORGAN: No, not at the moment.

ALEX: Alright, then. We will probably be giving you a call in ten days or so. I have to interview several more people. MORGAN: Thank you, Mr. Jones.

We have received your letter and resume , and we thought we would like to ask you to come here for an interview.

3. It is a great pleasure for me to have this opportunity for interview.

process data through the computer,用电脑处理各种数据。operating the fax and duplicators,操作传真机和打印机。 I think I can handle it.

4. What work were you responsible for at your previous work unit?

Ben: I have been a salesman. But now, I can do public relations. Snow: How many places have you worked altogether? Ben: Three.

5. Ben把自己的工作简单地描述了一下,主要是负责了哪些事情,这是考官最想听到的,不用面面俱到,be in charge of something,负责某事,也可以说be responsible for something.

6. Would you give me a general description of your present job? Part 5 Reasons for Application

Dialogue Script 1

Watson: What made you choose this company?

Tom: Your company has earned a very good reputation, not only because your products are of high quality, but also your well-constructed management system. I want to contribute my effort to such an outstanding company which cares not only the customer' needs, but also welfare of the employees.

Watson: What do you know about this company?

Tom: I know this is one of the biggest trading companies in the word. It was established in London in 1940, with a total of 40 million US dollars. It employs more than 17,000 staff throughout the word.

Watson: Why do you consider yourself qualified for the job?

Tom: I have the educational background and relevant experience required by the position. Besides, I am a very good team player and have the desire to make a thorough success. Watson: What interest you most about this job?

Tom: I like to work in a team and enjoy solving problems together.

1. What made you choose this company? make someone do something,让某人做某事。

earn a good reputation,赢得好名声。

What do you know about this company?

4. Why do you consider yourself qualified for the job? 这里Tom说的是the educational background and relevant experience,相关教育背景和工作经验,I am a very good team player and have the desire to make a thorough success.

5. What interest you most about this job?

Tom: My past experience is closely related to this job. I am confident of doing the job well. Watson: What do you think you would bring to the job?

Tom: My business experience in China, mainly. I know a lot about how the Chinese market works and how business is done there.

1.What's your career objective?

2. What do you consider important when looking for a job?

3. Why are you interested in working in this company?

4. What do you think you would bring to the job?

Ben: Yes, I find it stimulating. However, I believe in planning and proper management of my time reduce panic deadlines.

1. What is your greatest strength?

What are your weak points?

What are your greatest accomplishment? I feel my greatest accomplishments are still ahead of me.

4. Can you work under pressure?

Dialogue Script 2

Tom: l don't try to go ahead of people and lead them. I'd rather cooperate with everybody else, and get the job done by working together.

Snow: How do you deal with those who you think are difficult to deal with?

Tom: I stick to my principles and keep the rules. Sometimes, they are just lack of enthusiasm and I got them involved with something constructive. Some of them had changed their attitude later. Part 7 The End of the Interview

Dialogue Script 1

Watt: Since there are other applicants on the line, we can't let you know our decision yet until all of them have got their chance for interview.

Ann: Fair enough, I am willing to wait until you have come to a decision.

Watt: We will let you know probably next Tuesday. I hope to give you the positive reply. Ann: Thank you, I will be glad to hear that.

come to a decision,得出结论,有结果,相当于make a decision.

Dialogue Script 2

Watt: How long have you been here? Jenny: About three months.

Watt: Have you worked as a receptionist ? Jenny: No, but I think I am a fast learner.

Watt: Well, your English is very good. I have noticed that. But the problem is my receptionist must have local knowledge as well. People call us up not just to order meals. They often ask questions

about travel, entertainment, etc. so I have to say I can't offer you the job. Jenny: That's all right. Thank you for your time. Good-bye. Watt: Bye.

3. I have to say I can't offer you the job. 这时候要表现的很大度,thank you for your time,谢谢您花费时间来面试我。
