茱莉亚望着襁褓中的弟弟迈克，他躺在婴儿床里不住地哭，屋子里弥漫着一股药味。爸爸、妈妈告诉茱莉亚，迈克病得很重。她并不清楚迈克到底得的什么病，只知道弟弟不太高兴。他老是哭，现在也是。茱莉亚轻轻抚摸着弟弟的小脸，细声细语地说：“迈克，别哭了。”迈克果然不哭了，盯着姐姐看，眼里闪着泪花。她牵起他的小手，他满是汗水的手指求救般地抓住了她的一根指头，茱莉亚安慰地紧抓了一下。这时，她听到父母在隔壁房里说话。茱莉亚虽然只有6岁，但她知道，当大人压低声音说话时，就是在讨论重大的事情。茱莉亚很好奇，她亲了弟弟，踮起脚尖走到门边去。
