GRAMMAR(语法) I. There be 结构

“There is (are) + 某物(某人)+ 某地(某时)”这样一种句型,大致相当于汉语“某地(某时)有某物(某人)”的说法。句子中的is (are) 和后面所跟的名词在数方面必须一致。

1. There is a house in the picture.

There are some trees near the house. 2. Is there a horse under the tree? Yes, there is. No, there isn’t.

There isn’t a horse under the tree. 3. Are there any cows behind the house? Yes, there are (some). No, there aren’t (any).
