4.1 Why to write a thesis proposal?

Make yourself well prepared for the writing of the thesis (What? Why? How?) focus on a research topic and finish it rapidly. Convince your supervisor that (1) There is a need for the research: significant and important. (2) The topic is feasible in the availability in theoretical foundation, research tools and methods, empirical data and reference materials. (3) The research can be completed within the expected time. (4) The research topic matches your interests and capacities. Sort out your idea with the help of teachers Train you in the art of proposal writing, helpful in academia

The purpose of your research

Background Why to conduct the research? What contributions to make?

Significance of the research This section presents the reason(s) for the research. You should explain why it is significant and important theoretically and/or empirically. In other words, you should make clear what the theoretical and/or practical value of your research project is. In order to justify the theoretical value for your intended research project, a brief review of previous literature in the relevant domain(s) is needed here.

Feasibility of the research This section serves to illuminate that the topic is feasible in that you are availabl

e in the theoretical foundation, research tools and methods, empirical data and reference materials. You should also make clear that the research topic matches your interests and capacities.

Approach / methods This section contains an overall description of your approach, materials, and procedures. You should explain How would you approach to the issue under

discussion? What methods will be used? What materials will be used? -- How will data be collected and analyzed?

Do not include results and discussion of results here.

How to Prepare a Thesis Proposal Proceed in the following order:(1) Make a checklist of your thesis proposal before you start writing. (2) Formulate an appropriate title. (3) Frame a thesis statement. (4) Prepare a table of contents. (5) Illuminate the significance and importance of your research. (6) Justify the feasibility of your research. (7) Explain the approach / methods of your research. (8) Work out a list of references (i.e. References).
