Teaching Aims:(教学目的)

1. Make students understand the disadvantages of smoking and improve their understanding in it.让学生了解吸烟的危害提高他们的认识

2. Arise the youth to give up smoking and keep the good habits of modern life.鼓励年轻人戒烟并且保持良好的生活习惯 Teaching important points:(教学重点)

1. Improve students reading comprehension.提高学生的阅读能力 2. Improve students’ speaking comprehension.提高学生的听力能力

Teaching difficult points:(教学难点)

1. Help students master the main idea of this article and could retell the reading text by themselves.帮助学生掌握文章的主要大意,能够自己阐述课文

2. Master some useful words and expressions .掌握有用的单词和表达方式

3. Understand how many respects of smoking have been mentioned in the article.了解文章提到了吸烟的哪几个方面 Teaching aids:(教学用具) 1. the tape recorder(录音机) 2. the blackboard (黑板) 3. the computer (电脑) Teaching methods:(教学方法)

1. Individual and group discussion个人和集体讨论 2. fast-reading and careful-reading 快速和精细阅读 3. Ask and answer activities 提问和回答 Teaching procedures:(教学步骤) Step1.Lead—in(导入)

1). Please look at picture on the screen .Who can tell me what you can see in the picture? (Using your own words in English)

We can see that the little boy in his father’s arm was crying. Why? Because the animal beside them was very frightened with yellow teeth and big red eyes. He is so happy to smoke cigarette, but he doesn’t know how ugly he is .请看屏幕上的图片,谁能告诉我看到了什么?在图中小男孩在父亲的怀抱中哭泣。为什么?因为站在他们身边的动物非常可怕的大红的眼睛和黄色的牙齿。他正在高兴的抽着烟,但是他不知道自己多么可怕 2) Ask questions:(问题)

Give Ss several minutes to go through the reading text and find the answers to the following questions:给学生几分钟的时间快速阅读课文,找到下列问题的答案

1) What does “ here” in the title mean ?(public areas,such as trains,buses,school.etc)文章中的here是指什么?

2) What is passive smoker?(when people smoke, people around are forced to breathe in the smoke)什么叫做被动吸烟?就是当人吸烟时,周围的人被迫在吸烟的环境下呼吸。

3) What words are usually written on a “No smoking” sign?( thank

you for not smoking)在不吸烟的标志上经常写些什么话语? Step3. Careful-reading(精细阅读)

1. Listen to the tape, try to understand how many respects the author has mentioned, and match the general idea with the correct parts.听录音,了解作者所提到关于香烟的几个方面。将几个方面的内容与正确的段落连接。

2.Analysize the text from these two respects:

1)Part 2(P2). Smoking has become daily habit for some people.吸烟已经成为一些人的习惯

Read this part together and find out the reason why people like to

smoke? (make them relax, happy, even think it is cool, and is a fashion of the day) 阅读这部分找出人们为什么吸烟的原因,并让学生示范动作。

2)Part3. (P3-P4) Smoking has many bad effects.(not only on health, but also on other sides )吸烟有许多不好的影响

Choose one student read this part and let Ss find out the bad effects.一位学生朗读课文,让其它学生找到吸烟的害处。

a. Make you smell stink and turn the teeth yellow让你身上有异味,牙齿变黄。

b.It is the cause of many diseases. Such as cancer of the mouth and lungs, and it can also cause heart trouble.(conclude nicotine)引起许多的疾病。 比如口腔和胃癌,以及心脏病。

c. It is harmful for other people who do not smoke. (passive smoker)对于不抽烟的人是一种危害。

d.It can cause fires, make the place dirty, pollute the environment.会引起火灾,造成环境污染。

e. It wastes a lot of money.浪费金钱。

Step4. Group discussion: How to stop smoking?(集体讨论:采取哪些措施戒烟,让学生了解世界禁烟日的概念)

1. The government pass the laws to stop smoking in the public places.政府要通过法案禁止在公共场所吸烟。

2. We should learn more about the disadvantages of smoking and do a little bit by ourselves.我们必须了解吸烟的危害从自身做起。 3.Refuse to smoke and advise other people to stop smoking 拒绝吸烟并且劝阻别人不要吸烟。

4. Reduce the production of cigarettes.减少烟草的产量。 Step5.Language points(知识原点) 1.not…any more=not…any longer

eg: You must not worry about it any more.=You must not worry about it any longer.你不必为此事担心。 2.not only…but also不仅仅…而且

eg: She not only plays the piano but also sings.(connect verbs)她不仅会弹钢琴还会唱歌。

She can play not only the piano but also the guitar.(connect

objects)她不仅能弹钢琴而且还有吉他。

Not only Jack but also Mary is going to do the work.不仅Jack而

且Mary也要去做那份工作。

3.force sb to do sth/ be forced to do sth强迫某人做某事

eg: He forced us to leave the village at once.他强迫我们立刻离开小镇。

He was forced to leave his hometown.他被强迫离开他的故乡。 4.have effects on

eg: Your words had very little effect on him.你的话对他不起什么作用。.

Loud noises have a bad effect on hearing.噪音对于听力有很大的影响。

5.spend time/money on sth /in doing sth花费时间和金钱做某事 eg: The young lady spent too much money on clothes.这个年轻的妇女在衣服上花了大量的金钱。

The workers spent three months in rebuilding the bridge.工人们花了三个月的时间重建这座桥。

6.Stop to do/stop doing停下来做某事/停止做某事 eg: I stop to drink water./ I stop drinking water.

I remember to clean the house./ I remember cleaning the house.

I forget to clean the house./ I forget cleaning the house.

Through this text, we master some knowledges about smoking. It has many bad effects not only on our health, but also on other sides in our society. So we should work together to stop smoking .通过这篇文章,我们学习了许多关于吸烟的知识。它不仅对于健康有许多的危害,而且也对社会生活的各方面产生影响。所以我们必须联合在一起禁烟。 Step7.Homework(作业)

Please write a composition about 150 words according to the

cartoon for smoking .写一篇150字左右的作文,谈谈你看到的这副关于禁烟漫画的感受。
