中国人为什么要学英语

假如有两个房间，房与房之间没有任何可以来往的门，在隔离墙的中间装有一块玻璃。记住这是一块落地的单向透明玻璃。也就是说，从一个房间可以看到另一个房间里发生的一切，而对于另一个房间，情况完全相反。为了叙述更加清楚，我们不妨将可以看见对方的房间设为A房，只能被人看见的称为B房。当然，为了更好的进行我们的假设，我们还可以将听筒加进来。住在A房里的人可以听见B房里发出的声音，而住在B房的人对两间房之间的微妙关系一无所知。单项玻璃对他来说，只意味着自家墙上有一面镜子。他可以在镜子面前完成一种类似自我陶醉的审美。比如用他来梳妆打扮，或者穿上风衣后在镜子前优雅地打一个转，说一些―嗯，今天挺精神‖之类的话，如此等等。

接下来我们还得预设三个条件，与你一起挑选房间的人可能是一个智者、你生意上的敌人或者一条恶棍。如果你必须挑其中的一个房间居住，你会挑选哪一间？

我们一起来分析选择A房的理由：

如果B房住着智者，你可以通过观察与倾听，从他身上学到你需要的东西。比如他的举止，他阅读了哪些书，接待了哪些客人，表达了什么样的观点…….

如果B房住着你生意场上的敌人，你同样可以通过观察与倾听（我们可以换上另一词组----监视与窃听）获得对你极其有利的情报。比如他进行了哪些秘密的交易，你值得信赖的朋友是不是经常和他一起开香槟庆祝你新赔的一笔买卖……

如果B房住着恶棍，你将见证丑陋与下流，并引以为戒。当他杀人或有其他危及整个社区安全的行为时，你可以及时介入或报警。

以下是选择B房的理由：

如果你愿意住进B房，可以是因为你自以为很漂亮，你喜欢被观赏。你的观众包括智者、流氓以及随时想将你的钱财据为己有的人。显然，你对自己的钱财并不关心，智慧对于你来说也毫无用处。总而言之，你的乐趣就是照镜子，发表演讲、被人观赏或窃听。当然，维持这种生活你需要有充足的耐心，你日复一日的活在监视之中，就像福柯笔下全景监狱里的囚徒，也就是说你并不知道什么时候别人在注视着你。久而久之，也许你活得比较自然，也可能每天都像是行为艺术家。你甚至不如荷兰的厨房女郎自由。因为她们接客的时候，是要拉上窗帘的。有一点是可以肯定的，你放弃可能增长智慧的机会，并且将自己置身于危险之中。

经过上面的分析，如果你有着和我一样平常的智力，我相信你会选择住在A房而不是B房。 学习英语就好比住在A房，不学英语就好比住在B房。

一个人掌握一门外语，无异于给自己增加一双眼睛，增加与外界交流的机会。你多一份感悟与体会，就会增进一份言说的内涵。
